Name Tazzycat

From New Mexico

Age 46

I am going to the seminar this weekend and so I don't have a surgery date yet, but I know my insurance will cover 100% of the in-network charges. I am looking for people who went to ...or are going to go to... the Del Sol Bariatric surgery location in El Paso. I want to talk to people who have had surgery there to get feedback on the surgeons and support staff. It's important to me that I know as much as possible about the people who will be taking care of me while I am under anesthesia!

I am so glad to have this support available online, anytime I need/want it! I am planning on going to my Dr's support group meetings, but those are only once a month! So far, I have been on a clear liquid diet for 6 days--I am SO hungry! 3 more days, and then on Friday I can begin Full liquid diet for the next 2 weeks! I have never been so thirsty for skim milk in my life! Good luck to all--let's keep each other positive! I am going to lose 108 lbs!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
