What do you want from you weight loss?

Recommended Posts

1. I want to feel good about myself.

2. I want to be able to walk my kids to and from school (only .4 miles) without breaking out into a full sweat in the middle of the winter.

3. I want to go back to the woman my husband married. We were looking through some old photos with my 6 year old and she said to my husband "Daddy who is that pretty lady with you in this picture?" When my husband told her that it was me, she looked at me and said "Oh, Mommy I didn't know you used to be that pretty." I called an registered for the LAP-BAND® seminar the next day.

What an EXCELLENT thread!!!

Mscafe32 I can soooo understand how you felt when your 6 year old said that. My daughter (13) has never seen me the way I remember myself (don't know if that makes sense). When I see pictures of myself (very rare I even let that happen!!) I don't recognize that person!! That's not me. I'm hot, ya know? Sigh....okay...I USED to be hot!

Well....let's just say...I am back on my way!!! I got approved by Aetna yesterday!! I don't have a surgery date yet, but am moving in the right direction!!!

You all have listed such wonderful things you want from surgery!! I am right there with ya!!

I think probably the thing I want most....is for my 13 year old daughter to look at her mom and not be completely embarrassed. I want to be a positive role model for her!! And with God, the band, and all of your help....THAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!

Oh...(me again)...let me rephrase the above....I don't want my 13 year old daughter to be embarrassed of me because of my weight.

I will ALWAYS embarrass her!! That's a parent's job when you've got a teenager, right???

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
