Hi. Don't panic it won't be a problem. I would phone the hospital you are going to and ask the to speak to a nurse on the ward you'll be in (it's called the surgical ward here, not sure about there sorry). They will have seen this a million times.

And good luck for Monday! See you on the skinny side :)

You can go to surgery with either a tampon or a pad. It doesn't matter since they will remove anyway to put the catheter in when you are asleep. You will wake up from a blissful sleep and you period will be the last thing on your mind.

Trust me, I got mine on my day of surgery !! Just a little irritated !

Can can anyone tell me how "Aunt Flo" changes as we lose weight? Are the days shorter, do cramps disappear, not as heavy? I realize we are all different, but is it noticeable, and for the better?

Thanks girls!

I've had my period 2X in 3 weeks since I got banded but didn't have it on the actual day. I did ask my mom who is a nurse about your period & surgery just out of curiosity. She says they just give you a big granna pad and some mesh panties and remove them during the procedure for the catheter. Not sure about after with the catheter though. I think it's true though your body does it just from stress...........don't worry, I'm sure they've seen worse. If you think of it, 25% of women undergoing surgeries would probably have it...............

I was banded on a monday and aunt flo visited on wednesday, freaked me out b/c my first thought was I'm bleeding from the surgery HELP, then I said hmmmmmmm DUH!!! LOL

When you go to the hospital you'll have plenty of time to clean yourself up so don't worry, but tell the nurses.

Hugs and GOOD LUCK !!!

Totally have the Gas X - bought a box at Costco!!

Aunt Flo was playing tricks on me - so I'm out of the woods for now. Hopefully she will stay away for just one more day!

I'm at work now (work a graveyard shift). I'll have about 2 hours at home, then off to Steven's.

We've had at least one if not more patients have this timing occur to them.

We would suggest wearing a pad. It's no big deal.

Good luck tomorrow!

One thing that they never mentioned to me that you need to be aware of is the use of blood thinners during or after surgery can make you period all messed up.

I had a hefty dose of Heparin before surgery to prevent clots and had an unfriendly visitor come later on in the day of surgery and stay for 3 weeks. Nothing too bad, just annoying.

Best of luck to you!!! :)

I suspect mine is due about the day of surgery too! This has happened to me before, although I was getting wisdom teeth out so nobody was fiddling around down the other end, but they gave me very sexy paper undies and something that could have passed as a loaf of bread for a pad.

I'd go in with a pad, not a tampon, if someone is going to take things like that off my body, I'd rather it was quicker and easier, I mean I know my obstetrician has seem more of me than I ever will but at least I'm conscious and know I'm being treated with respect kwim? And its only ever been him and the midwife, not a full theatre of staff.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
