Surgery Date is kind of far off

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Met wth the surgeon today, I lost 7 lbs since my last vist. he went over some more things with me about the surgery.. I really have to say this surgical group is very good and very diligent in what they do.. I still have to go to meet have the phyc eval, and see the dietetion , then I have to go for a physical therp appt. did any one have to do that? then I have to have a sleep study.. then he wants to see me in 6 weeks so my June date I was hoping for my not happen.. oh and well one thing was found after having the upper GI.. I have a Hiatal hernia now I never knew it I dont have acid reflux at all chest pain yea a little when I lay down but I thought it was because I was so heavy that I was crushing my self. which well mabe so one of the causes is obesity and well that is me.. other then that I never had any trouble he said it was slight and not to worrie he and the other surgeon have to look over the exrays more..

I got to tell you I am so worried so scard so worrked that I will not have the lap band I mean after reading this stuff on line how could what it the Hernia is at the top of the stomach and that is were the put the band right? well any ways I think I am going to just keep plugging along but I am worried seeing I am not close to a surgery date I am going to come back to this site when I do..

Thanks for ready good luck to everyone and keep up the good work..

From what I can tell, most surgeons will fix the hernia in to put the lap-band in place.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
