Should i be concerned?

:blink:Yesterday I (day off), slept in till 0900 - got up and piddled around with minor everyday chores - ate brunch around 1230. Had a cheese stick around 1500. Finished work on laptop and went over to sit on the couch and watch tv. Around 1600, I felt something at my band area that scared me a little. It was like a twist or flip (like the feeling that you would get if a 6-7 mo. fetus moved). It did not hurt or even present with any measure of pain or uncomfortability. I was just aware of it and have never experienced it before. I did not get to have supper until between 1930 and 2000. I ate supper without any problem whereas everytime I've eaten since being banded on 2/26/10 - I have felt some restriction. A burning in the esophagus, mild backwash, a feeling of being full with out eating much at all.(and I did push it to the limit) Well, last night I felt no restriction...I kept waiting for the burn or something, but... I do not have any fill in my band. I am scheduled to have my first fill 4/5/10. This afternoon I did have to go into work, and while I had brunch at 1100 - I did feel a little restriction. When I was allowed solid food I feel like I did/do overeat. Has anyone experienced this feeling before?:) I am going to ask my MD at the appt to get my first fill, but that happened last evening and the office is closed today...so I was wondering what it felt like when your band slips. I have heard that it is painful and makes you throw-up in time. I hate for this to unnerve me, but the unknown can do that.:w00t:Remember...I have no fill, and this is the first time that I have had this feeling and had virtually no pain. Thank you Betsy for giving me your suggestions/advise......

I don't know if it's what you're describing, but I have on many occasions had little muscular spasms of some sort that have felt very much like that fetal-movement sensation. I have chalked it up to disrupted muscles recovering from the insult of surgery.

I have no idea what band slippage feels like--but I do know that it's usually accompanied with far greater symptoms than you've described.

I think it's quite likely you can relax on that front. Certainly, tell your doctor about it--if s/he uses fluoroscopy during fills, you'll know immediately if there's been slippage. If you're really worried about it, give the doc a call before your appointment for reassurance and instructions.

But I bet a million bucks your muscles are just hopping around a little.

The fluctuating restriction you've described is baffling, isn't it? My band plays tricks like that, too. It used to be tighter in the morning than the evening. Last week it decided to change that! And now it's a complete new ball game after another fill...

Never a dull moment!

Good luck :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
