Hi guys! Did anyone use a wedge pillow after TT? If so how big was it? I have seen 7in and 12 in. Was it useful or waste of money? Also, what did you wear at home during recovery? Thanks for any insight!

All good questions, Mom. I bought a $30 wedge pillow at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and took it back unused. Other posters have used them and recommend them. My surgery was milder than many because I had no muscle suturing so not much pain or discomfort. I wore and wear snap front smocks but any nighty would work because the drains were pinned to the binder. I had saved some granny panties that were big enough to go over the binder. My PS didn't want the binder real tight and only around the belly, didn't care about the midriff. I am going to have to have a port relocation surgery because it now sticks out like a golf ball, LOL, and my PS wouldn't touch it.

I will post more pictures Monday or Tuesday after the drain comes out.

Best wishes.

Mimi

Hi:

I bought wedge pillow and used it only once.

For wearing after plastic surgery I found that sweatpants and pajama pants with pockets worked best because I could put the drainage balls into the pockets. Mens pajama pants usually have pockets.

Best wishes to you.

Sue

Mimi, where is your port? where will you have it moved so it won't show?

My PS will move mine, my lapband Dr. doesn't want him to touch it for fear of infection. My PS said he would put it between the breast bone, but i have had someone tell me thiers sticks out there.

i will admit, i plan to wear a bikini in our boat this summer and i don't want questions as to what it that sticking out! I'm a closet bander...no one besides my hubby and mom know about it!

i had decided to just leave it in it's place, but you saying it sticks out like a gold ball...that's what i'm thinking mine will look like! it already looks like serious abs sticking out on one side of my belly right now!

any one else? what did you do, how much does it show?

sorry to steal your thread for a second!

i haven't had surgery yet, but we have a recliner, i bought a wedge, we have TONS of extra pillows....i just want to be prepared for whatever make me confortable!

as for clothes, i found at JCpenny, a zippered robe that looks like a day dress that has pockets. I will either slit the seams to the pockets to slide the drains through, or will pin them to the inside of the robe before zipping up. i bought 3 of them, different colors for $8 each! (they were regular something like $26!)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
