In almost every illustration of gastric banding, the port is shown toward the lower side of the abdomen. Why is mine two inches above my belly button? Truely annoying as I feel it when I bend over, pick up the laundry basket, hug my 4 year-old niece...

Where is everybody else's? is this normal?

Mine is in center and a little to the left, about 2 inches below the lowest part of my sternum.

My port is inthe same place, but it doesn't bother me. I wonder if it depends on the type of band. I have an Allergan standard band, what about you?

My port is just above my belly button too. Maybe about an inch...I'm only 6 days post op but it hasn't bothered me too much yet.

Ditto. It's very slightly to the left, just below the last rib. And though it's not front-and-center, it still is easily annoyed by laundry baskets and hugging children.

It's just one of those things...whereever it is, there will be minor annoyances.

Mine is on my left side and I feel it in everything I do. Bend over, sitting down, picking up my son, leaning on a counter. I cannot wear jeans if I have to sit down for more then 15 minuets. It is a pain in the butt.

Mine is a Realize band - but I don't think there's much diff between the two. I'm comforted that I'm not the only one with what feels like a deck of cards in my tummy. Too bad they can't make them plays sounds - you know, like in a kid's stuffed toy!:frown:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
