Wow I was so surprised to find out that the 5cc's of Fluid I thought were in my band were never there. I just came home from getting my 3rd fill and when I told the Dr. I had 5cc in my 10cc band he checked and when he drew it out there was only 1cc in there. He said the doctor doing the fills for me has been known to miss a lot. No wonder I never felt anything different after my fills. I was beginning to think something was wrong with me, cause I could not feel any resistance after a fill.

So this doctor put in 4cc and stressed for me to be very careful and that now I should feel something. He said to come back to see him in 2 weeks and we should be able to adjust a little more and hopefully hit my sweet spot. He said I should feel good about myself, because all the weight I've lost so far was on my own. This does make me feel good and also shows the power of the mind, here I thought it was my fills working, but it was just me! Who knew!:wink2:

It seems a little scary to me that the other doctor told you something that wasn't true... :wink2:

I hope you weren't paying him out of pocket!

But its ok if insurance paid? That makes no sense. In any event, it should be brought to his attention...if ins. paid, it should be credited to the ins. company, if it was self pay, it should be credited back to the OP.

Yikes! That doesn't seem right. Although you are happy to finally get a proper fill and know that it was not your fault that you did not feel any restriction, I don't think you should let them off the hook that easily. You underwent the inconvenience, emotion, and cost of 'fills' that never actually filled your band and are now putting yourself at risk of having an overly aggressive fill (and possible side effects from that) by having all of your missed fills lumped together in one big fill. This is definitely not ideal and not fair to you since you showed up and spent the time and money on all those other appointments. Yes, I get a little annoyed w/the seemingly slow process of filling just a little at a time, but I get through it by telling myself it is for the best so that I don't have too big of a fill all at once which can cause problems. If I was in the same situation as you, I would be pissed!!!

I would be pissed as well. Sorry but if you know someone is known for not getting it in the port than don't let that person do fills! If you paid copays I hope you are getting them back! Very unprofessional!

I didn't intend to imply that it was ok either way-- it's just HER problem to get the money back if she paid herself, whereas the insurance company and its lawyers, etc will have to deal with it if they paid.

Thats a unfortunate situation you had to go through with a happy ending being you were able to do this on your own and you are stronger than you think. As for the Doctor that was giving you a SubQ fill. He probably isn't the best person to get the fills from and everybody makes mistakes. If you are one of those rare people that have never made a mistake in your life whether it be personal or professional, you are better than me. Working in healthcare for 20 years, I can tell you that if this is the worst thing that ever happens to you in your life, i would say you are damn lucky..Doctors are not God, they are human people that make mistakes and yes we pay them 1000's of dollars, but we signed the paper to pay them that money in the begining...Its called a risk. I am glad you are getting your restriction we all hope for....Good Luck...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
