After fill experience?

Recommended Posts

I am 4 months out, and am down about 30-32 pounds. I have the VG band, and have not needed any large fills - received a .7 fill - a baby fill - in August, and nothing since. I lost just fine....loved my band cause it just made me not-so-hungry. However, I began eating more and more, and not losing...time for a fill, right? Well, I got a 2 cc fill one week ago, and instead of feeling full/some restriction, I am hungrier - I mean an empty stomach, gurgling kind of uncomfortable stomach...I never had this feeling prefill....why post? I realize I may not find full restriction for a few fills yet - that's fine. I guess my question is why am I able to feel such severe hunger, with all the gurgling so quickly? I am eating Protein based meals - small amounts, but have tracked calories in Fitday, and am staying under 1800 cals per day...What is this weird gurgling/intense hunger? I read somewhere that it might be needing water...but I drink my minimum 64 oz of Water a day, so it shouldn't be that! Anyone have any thoughts? I had lunch at 11:30 today, and then parent conferences all afternoon - (I'm a fifth grade teacher) - anyway, my stomach began gurgling during the last hour of conferences (around 2:30ish) ...was terribly embarassing!

Thanks--

AmyK

I have no idea why you would be feeling more hunger after your fill, maybe you just expected MORE restriction and the lack of it is playing with your mind?!!!

I really replied because I wanted to say hello because I am also an elementary teacher, 6th grade! We have many parallels going here. I was also born in 1966, married and also have no kids!!!! And yes I am also insulin resistant, but take Actos, and got the PCOS going too. I am 5'4" and at 221 right now. I thought it was strange to see how close our stats were without commenting!

I was filled for the firs time on 11-03. It was a 1.4 cc fill. I also find that I am actually a little bit more hungry now that before. The more I think of it the more hungry I feel. Some say that the restriction might not be noticable until a few weeks later. I go back in three weeeks to acess the situation and to see about a second fill. Good Luck

I have posted this question on a few boards. I am so happy to find someone else is experiencing this and it is not just me. I have the VG band and had 8 fills before finding restriction with 8.9mls. That lasted about 2 months and then over a period of 2 weeks just about disappeared. I went back and my Dr gave me another fill taking me up to 9.6mls and I am feeling exactly the same as you. I have posted asking how could I feel more hungry?? Its as if I didnt even get a fill or if I actually had some taken out. Now I know my fills...every fill has taken about 2 weeks to really kick in but it has been over 2 weeks now and still...NOTHING. I am interested to in knowing if you hear an explanation for this.

My doctor told me if I am still feeling hungry instead of having the forbidden in between meal Snacks to drink a protiein shake. The Protein will keep you full between the meals plus give the added protein. I found a carb counter choc. milk that meets our requirements for sugars and stuff, if you add a tasteless whey protein to it it is very tollerable as far as Protein Shakes. Also, south beach diet makes a Peanut Butter crunch bar that is 20 grams of protein that also helps. I have an off the wall question. How did you get your ticker to work. I went to the website and made one but I cannot figure out how to place it on this website. If you could write me and explain it I would appreciate it very much:> Thanks.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
