Anyone banded around 10-14-09?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Oct. 19th 2009. I have lost 72 lbs. since starting the liquid diet. I found out on my 2nd fill that my port is leaking and that I can only keep about 3 cc in my 14 cc band. I'm still following my 1200-1500 calorie diet and exercising 7 days a week for about an 1.5-2 hrs. a day. I've been training to run a half marathon in April.

My biggest problem is that I'm hungry all the time and I have no restriction. Hopefully soon they can get my port fixed and I'll finally get to feel restriction.

Wow it sounds like everyone is doing great. I was banded October 10th 2009 so a few days before the 14th. We have all almost lost around the same amount of weight. I'm so glad to hear about so many good sucess stories. Even with all my problems I still loved my band and can't wait till I get my new one.

Keep up all the great work.

I was banded on 10/26/09. I have lost 51lbs total (11 of it was pre-op) so I guess that is 40 pounds so far. I have 5cc in a 10cc band (got fill today of 0.5 cc). So far so good with the fills. I don't really count calories, I just watch my food portions. I try to work out 3 to 4 days a week. My doc says I am doing well so I hope to continue on the path. I hope to lose another 95 pounds, that will be my goal.

I had my band 10/14/09. Initially, I lost about 27 pounds within the first couple of months but have been stuck up/down with the same couple of pounds the past couple of months. I have a Realize Band not sure how many cc's but have only had one fill in the beginning of 3 cc's. I wanted another fill at my last appoitment but the doctor talked me out of it. I go back next week and am going to insist on a fill because I can eat more than I should at a meal. I have struggled with exercising on a regular basis and know that I have to try harder. I also admit that I have made bad choices at times but overall do ok. I am a little discouraged with my lack of progress but am happy that I have been maintaining over the past few months. I have also gone down 4 sizes. I want to get past this plateau and get the scale moving again!! I still want to lose at least 50 to 60 pounds, so I am about halfway there. I am inspired by all of your success stories and welcome any advice. Although I don't post that often, I am on this site almost everyday.

Thanks!!

Jennifer

Wow..all of you are doing so great! I was banded on 10/14 and have lost only 30 pounds to date!

I have 6.2 cc's in a 10 cc band and am feeling restriction now for the first time.

Love my band...just wish sometimes the weight would come off faster. But, I didn't gain it overnight so I guess I will not lose it overnight either!

I was banded on 10/07/2009 and I lost 11lbs preop and 44lb since band. I have only 2.5cc in a 10cc band and I only had my first fill mid January so I am still hungry all the time and I have not at all reached any restriction I can eat anything with no issues (I actually fear the day I hit restriction afraid I am gonna get stuck forsure :cursing:)

Hey fellow Oct 09 Bandsters! I've lost 50lbs and couldnt be happier. My only concern is that there is no way I am feeling full after a cup of food (last night I had a steak and a small portion of rice) but my Dr. said as long as I'm losing weight, who cares?

I'm only nervous that Im not stretching my stoma but my Dr. doesnt seem too concerned. They just operated on the NY Jets coach this week so I assume they know what they are doing.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
