LOOKING for 2003 people

Recommended Posts

I was banded in 2003. I am looking for others that were banded around that time! It has been 6+ years for me. I lost a total of 120, but over the past 6, yes 6 months, 20 pounds have crept back on!! HELP!!!

Hi, Kyleigh!

I'm not 2003, but Dec 30, 2004. Pretty rare here, too.

I'm just getting going again. Had a fill 12 days ago, to 3.0, and still doing mostly liquids and soft stuff.

I had been 'eating around' my band for quite a while...just got tired of trying. But the years are going by, and I feel so much better physically and mentally when I'm really working with this tool!

I sure know it works...it's just me that wasn't working :blushing:

I have extremely high hopes and plans!

Good to hear from you!

HI!!! Thanks for the reply! I have not been to the doctor in about 3 years, called to make an appointment and found out he MOVED. Great. But I don't think I need a fill. I am still pretty restricted.... It's that eating around the band! I know it works.... Just gotta make myself work! Sounds like we have the same problems! Keep in touch! I need someone to hold me accountable!:blushing:

Kyleighp,

I had my surgery in 2005. It is so hard to find old timers on the website and so many rules have changed too since we had our procedure done. I still listen to the old rules and will not change myself. I am very strict with what I eat but sometimes I will splurge. There is no good reason why I stopped going to the gym and I did say that I ill begin tomorrow so I have to go.

I have no clue where Iola, TX is. I work in Farmers Branch but live in Arlington. I have heard of your Dr. of course but a lady I know had it done through him and she didn't do very well. It all boils down to us anyway and what we need to do for ourselves with this new life style. My doctor told me good things, truthful things and because of his knowledge he was a good teacher besides my doctor.

Just don't go backwards. We have been backwards a 1000 times.

If you need some support I am here for you. It will always be a work in progress for us.

Josephine

Hi Kyleigh,

I was banded sept 2002 so maybe i can help?

I did/do have the same issues as you do and have found i needed to be accountable for my eating once again...unfortunatly as time goes on it can be easy to not get fills and as the Fluid in the band evaporates a little you get less restriction and don't realise your portions gradually get larger. I went and got a good fill last week and am now down 1.3 kgs in less then a week.

I started to think hey i can have a lil of this and a lil of that and got lazy, life also got in the way with a medical issue that popped up, i found a great help was to start from scratch. Get a fill and eat like a newbie for a week (baby the band) and be a concious eater again, concentrate on what you feel while your eating and stop when you get that soft stop.

Unfortunatly i found you really just need to give yourself a kick in the butt and when you do get restriction again you remember what it was like when you first got the band.

Pm me if you wanna chat :-)

Bel

I was banded on 3-11-05 and initially lost 80# in 2006 I put back 40 of it and then recently was following a strict food plan and lost 125# (started at 282) I quit the food plan and have been eating out of control and have gained 25# in 6 weeks. oouch! Question?? I have been having lots of acid reflux, and I am sure I have stretched out my band over the years, has been at least 3 yrs since a fill. Do you think I need a unfill? I have been just drinking fluids today to see if that would work. Thanks for any insight you may have.

I just signed on today and I am so happy to have found you guys. I did mine in 2005 and had lost 80 pounds but gained 40 back. I just got a fill and am at 5.5cc but it is not working all that great. I think it is time for me to go back to the gym. It was just so easy for me to loose the 80 pounds in 8-months with out any exercise. I guess the time has come for me to start. I am paranoid what will happen when I reach my max of fills at 10cc. I’m scared and fell like I will gain all the weight back.

Have any of you experienced an upper pouch inflammation and needed to release all liquids so your stomach can rest? That happened to me and I had zero fills for 4 months and that is how I gained the weight. Please advise……

Happy to find these posts, was banded in January 2005 and have done well except the past year...started a new job last year and put 8-10 lbs back on now can't budge them off! Started Jazzercise in May, but no pounds off yet. Haven't been to my doc in over a year, i feel like Istill have restriction, just a few bad food habits creeping their way back in. THis website was my saving grace the first two years...It helped me SO much! Just venting, hope you all are hanging in there too. I refuse to let this get to me..I'm so happy to be where I am, just don't want to go back to where I was! Thanks for listening guys.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
