started my 2 week liquid diet

Recommended Posts

Hey all! I started my two week liquid diet today, and I am already miserable. I know it is the best thing for me, but I do not know how I am going to get through two weeks of this without cheating! The shakes they have me on are DISGUSTING and I have never been fond of anything sugar free, so this is a big challenge for me. Any ideas on how to get through the next 2 weeks?

The first couple of days were tough but it gets better. I found that if I mixed some instant coffee and splenda in the vanilla shake and blended with ice it is wonderful!! Day 3-4 was the hardest but it's all worth it. I was so happy that in 2 weeks I lost 13 lbs! That's would have taken me 6 months to lose any other time. Hang in there!! I'm 11 days post op and down 21 lbs since I started the pre-op diet!

Good luck!

If the only reason you think they are disgusting, ask your surgeon if it is ok to put some Splenda in them.

I had no problem getting through the pre-op, I just looked for ward to the end and put hunger out of my mind.

If you cannot fight the hunger then do something to put it out of your mind like taking a walk or brushing your teeth.

You're not alone here. Tens of thousands have done it and you can too!

I agree that days 3 and 4 are the hardest but you will get through it. It's only 2 weeks. Take it one day at a time. If that is too much, take it 1 shake at a time. You can do it!

So I have cheated three different times now, and I feel just awful. I am terrified that my liver is not going to be shrunk enough for surgery and that I am going to wake up without my band :cursing: Did anyone else cheat, and still have the surgery?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
