I am so fustrated and sad and well alot of you know what i mean...The worst part is I am waiting to get a back surgury I am 225 and 5'5 and the back surgen doesnot what to do a surgury untill i lose the weight and the pain is so bad im having trouble walking, bending, sitting, just about everything.. I dont know how much longer i can take the pain ..ive been following the adkins diet while i was waiting for the band surgury per my dr..stating it shrinks the liver..and im so depressed..so where do i go from here? my husband is not keen on the mexico thing.so I dont know what else to do ...HELP ME PLEASE

I would definately write an appeal letter....and another.....and another, until they finally give in. I have heard of other people having this same problem and not giving up until the insurance company gives in. Maybe someone at your doctors office could help you out with the appeal letter and tell you exactly what to include. I HATE insurance companies!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't imagine how you are feeling now, especially since your doctor told you it shouldn't be a problem. But hang in there and don't give up.

I forgot to mention....maybe you could have your back surgeon write a letter stating that it's medically necessary. Maybe if they have more than one doctor telling them, they'll approve it. Just a thought.

Another thing- go and get a copy of the letter/s that the surgeon's office wrote to UHC. Note what details were and were not in the letters. Carefully read the denial letters from UHC. Try to determine exactly why you are being denied. Then address this in your appeal.

It is better to take ownership here! CONVINCE them that you MUST have this procedure. The lady at the drs office is just doing her job- she does not have the conviction that you have.

Good luck.

There are good examples on bandstersinurance group on yahoo.com.

Is there any way that you could change ins next year? Does your employer have other choices? (just a thought- sorry if that sounded defeatist!!)

Ther are also lawers who will appeal for you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
