Difference between stuck and full?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I first came to the forums shortly after my first fill yabbering on about how it worked.

3 months later I realise how wrong I was and it was all down to the fluids only regime after a fill.

My question is ..... what is the difference in feeling between 'getting stuck' and proper restriction?

I have 6.5 in a 10 band. If I eat too fast or don't chew enough I often get a stuck episode. However, I have rarely feel that full feeling.

The stuck feeling for me is a pain in the chest and feeling like something is stuck in the eosophagus along with sliming (too much info i know)

On the few occasions I have felt 'restricted' it was as if I had eaten WAY WAY too much and then drank a bottle of fizzy coke on top of it. Very uncomfortable, but VERY full.

I would love to hear what 'restriction' is for you. Is it the stuck feeling or the 'if I eat one more bite I will pop' feeling?

Getting worried that I only have 3.5 space left in my band and that it wont be enough.

When I get stuck it hurts! I slime big time!!! When I'm full I get a slight pain between my breast bone. I know to stop eating then. I know I have restriction and I'm not hungry or I should say starving all the time. I can go 4 to 5 hours without eating or thinking about it. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

my full is slight pain in my chest if i don't stop them i will throw up. So as soon as i feel that feeling i stop right away even though i might want another bite.

Full for me is no longer feeling hungry and I too get the slight pain. Full no longer feels like 'rub your belly unbutton your pants Thanksgiving dinner full'. Don't look for that feeling, you won't ever get it if you have restriction & you don't want it if your not restricted.

Oh, I also get a little runny nose when I have had enough. Weird but true! I think it's my full signal!

For me, it isn't a case of "full."

It is a case of satisfied. If I get full. I have eaten too much and am likely to be miserable. I don't want my body screaming at me that I am full. I want it whispering to me that it has had enough.

There is a big difference. We need to learn the difference. It isn't easy. Many of us have been searching for full our entire lives. It is what got us into obesity. That band helps us with satiety and Portion Control.< /p>

If I get stuck, it is slime and a huge pity party. Stuck can happen with the first bite of something. Not the same thing as being full at all.

I have a very similar experience as HeatherR and cocabean. Stuck hurts! I'm miserable until something comes back up.

Full is a sensation of ok, I've had enough, it's definitely not that, I've got to unbuttom my pants full ( I think because I get i get "full" using only the small upper portion of my stomach) - I also call that satisified. I find that I have a soft stop - that feeling of satisfied, then if I eat more maybe a sniffle, hiccup or runny nose, if I continue to eat it will progress to discomfort and then overfill which can result in and experience similar to being stuck. Over the years I focus on trying to stop at satisified; it's definitely a learning process for me.

I too get the pain in my chest. It tells me to stop, or at least take a break. Sometimes I walk around until I burp and then can finish what I'm eating. If I ignore the pain and keep eating I vomit.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
