Stomach making weird noises

Recommended Posts

I've had band to close to 2 years and for the most part have been very happy with it. However, for about the last month or so, my stomach makes loud growling noises. When I drink my 1st cup of coffee in the morning, I can hear it gurgling down and around in my stomach. When I was at the dentist and laying there it was growling and groaning enough that the hygenist asked "what in the world is that"? When I eat, I can hear it going down and moving around. Is this normal or do I have an alien in my tummy??

Did you have a fill just before this started?

That's what happened to me. I just had .2 removed yesterday and the strange noises have stopped. I think, for me, those loud grumblings mean I'm too tight. I would hear them after every meal for at least an hour. I would also have to listen to everything I drank. I had other clues that I was too tight (reflux). I just never put it all together until I told my doctor about everything. I just hope I don't lose the great restriction I had.

I haven't had a fill since September. I really don't think I'm too tight; I don't PB very much. Only when I eat certain foods that I know I shouldn't because they cause problems - like eggs. I have had some reflux since Christmas time. About 1 x a week. I thought I had just eaten something spicy, etc. However, I ate a LOT of salsa yesterday on my quesadilla and had no problems at all. I'm scheduled to go back to dr in April for 2 year check with blood work and everything. Were you PBing a lot when you were too tight?

I really wasn't pbing much at all, but I wasn't eating all that much. I wasn't hungry, because my meal stayed in my pouch for hours. If I drank even 2 hours after my meal, I could hear the Water gurgling through everything. I was pretty much eating a half a cup of chili twice a day. I thought my band would loosen up after the fill, but I waited 6 weeks and it didn't.

I will admit that when I start to hear the digestive sounds, I generally start feeling 'sick' right after and end up p/bing.

I've always blamed it on the pouch being so much farther up the tract that you can actually hear what is the normal digestive action usually done in the stomach. :smile2:

BUT wouldn't give up my Band for anything!! :)

My stomach does this all the time. For me it makes no difference if I have just had a fill or not. Sometimes it is before I eat sometimes after. It happens frequently when I am lying in bed and has even woken me in the night.

It feels kind of weird but its not really doing me any harm so I consider it to be part of my new normal.

I had this grumbling this month for the first time either when eating or drinking. I mentioned to my doc she said it means i am slightly too tight - she took out .1 cc and i'm fine now. I remember when i got my first fill the NP said the same thing you will hear gurgling if too tight - like a Water cooler making the bloop bloop bloop sound if that makes sense.

DH is banded too and both of our stomachs go crazy when we lie down at night.

i quite frequently gurgle when I drink and always when I am in enclosed spaces, that are quiet with someone else to hear, my stomach will suddenly let out a huge noise.

What I get is not rumbling but air moving up through the contents. It sounds just like a huge burp without the actual eruption of air out the mouth, but people do assume I've just burped. Its pretty embarrassing.

Mine does this too. Especially when I'm in a quiet room with people, it's quite embarassing.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
