irritating running question....

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm not banded yet. Have one week left before my last dietician visit (yay). I have a decent size pannus from 3 kids, 2 were c-sections. I am a big girl but fairly fit. Anyhow, I've started jogging and it's going well, been able to ramp up my runnin time quite a bit.

My pannus keeps getting in the way, my "upper" belly is kind of lean and hard, but the lower one hangs to my hip bones and is annoying when i run. I also get some pain and tugging.

Any suggestions ? I know it's a strange question!

I've seen lots of people say they wear Spanx when they run, anything like that might help.

I dont have any hanging bits and I've never been one for big brand clothing just because but I find it well and truly worth paying $80 for Nike or New Balance tights to run in, or proper running shorts, and I also always buy proper tops with shelf bras. T shirts and track pants just dont cut it. You need clothes that hold you in and minimise bounce and jiggle whatever your weight or body issue.

I have a generic of Spanx they are 20$ a pair and I wear them everyday.. Running, walking, working.. I got lots of skin and there's no way I could leave the house in cotton undies.

I look and feel like Jaba the hut!!!! Can't wait for skin removal..... Training for my first mini marathon so I may need to put on 2 pair on race day!!!

Go to the Nike web page or to a local Nike outlet. Pickup a pair of the compression undershorts that you wear under your running shorts or sweats. It will help with that issue as well as provide some support to your upper legs and improve circulation.

The nice things about Nike is they have sizes that extend all the way up to 3xl.

Good luck

I wear a girdle panty to hold everything still otherwise I'd have way to much movement happening while running. I started wearing them about 3 weeks post op and I'm now 13 months out. The other benefit is, they make me look like I lost about 15 pounds more than I really have. They also minimize muffin top since they go up under my boobs.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
