It's exciting but a little scary too. I'm no longer contemplating this, I'm actually moving forward towards this. And the best part is that my husband is on board with me.

Hi anglov - good luck with your surgery! I hope that all goes well. I can't imagine having to pay for this on my own, if that were the case, I wouldn't be doing it. I'm lucky my insurance covers 90% - even though they have put me thru the ringer. And they may still even deny me, which I find totally unfair. But here's hoping that they don't. I'm hoping to have my surgery in the end of May, I don't see why not. All my stuff should be submitted to insurance by April 19. *HOPING*

Like you, I'm trying to get everything ready as well. My biggest challenge at the moment is quitting smoking. Everything I'm ready for! Just need to get my stuff ready for my 3 weeks of liquid diet. Still trying to find a Protein drink I like. Which ones did you seem to like?

I will be taking 15 days off. I get 12 weeks short term, but I'm just going to take the time off thru out my liquid diet. Don't really want to be on a liquid diet while at work. Plus the bathroom isn't very close. LOL.

Good luck with everything!! Keep us posted!!

I have to do a 1 week liquid diet which amounts to 3 days actually at work. They are terrified of how cranky I will be.:rolleyes2:

I didn't like the Protein drinks from Bariatric Advantage. I had the pre-mixed which were runny and watery tasting and really kind of slimy. I love the Lean shake from GNC but it only has 9g Protein so I have to supplement it with a high Protein powder. More calories which I don't like. I did buy some unflavored to add to broth. It's a liquid just it is warm so I feel like I have some kind of a dinner.

I'm not using my short term at all. Just vacation time. After the 10 days I come back for 1 day then that Friday is my regular day off so I will get another 3 days off. I figure that one day will give me some insight on how I will do at work. I can't imagine doing the liquid for 3 weeks before surgery? I know I have the week before only Protein shakes then the day before is Clear liquids only then after a few days of Clear Liquids, back to protein and so on.

I don't have any pre-op diet, just 3 weeks post-op of liquid diet. I could use my vacation time, but why bother when I pay into my short term medical. Plus I rather us my vacation time for fun things! LOL. I'm going to Disney in a month ( I was hoping to already have been banded-no dice.) So one more trip where I get to be fat and uncomfortable! Oh well - I know that good things are to come right after I get back! CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!

My stuff took a while. My last actual doc appointment was in January and I was just given my surgery date 1 week ago. May 10!!!!! I'm ready to get this thing started!!!

Trust me when I found out last October, 3 days before my surgery, that I couldn't get the surgery then I was devastated! Even though I had spoken to my insurance company at least 3 times about this waiting period and they assured me it didn't apply to this. But anyways, that is all in the past and now I am just super excited about May, since April 1st is tomorrow! For the 3 week pre-op diet you have to drink Protein shake things either 2 to 3 times a day, I am gonna do 2 because there is NO way I can survive on a liquid diet for 3 weeks. I don't wanna sabotage myself, so it's part liquid and then just lean meat and fresh veggies. I just hope I can make it past the hunger the first couple of days, I just know it will pay off in the long run!:bored:

My doctor said I MUST do a 1 week all liquid diet with the day before surgery nothing but clear liquids. He said he recommends that I do another week or two prior to that with 2-3 shakes a day and one high Protein meal. I already try to do 1 shake a day and then work my way up to two a day so I won't be shell shocked when I have to do a solid week of all shakes. I am worried I won't be able to do that.

My short term doesn't kick in until I am off for 5 work days. By the time it kicks in and the paperwork gets processed I will be back at work. I have to use my own vacation time those 1st days anyway. I work a 4-day work week and because of that I get more time off while using less of my vacation time. If, God forbid, I have complications, the short term is ready to kick in after I have used my vacation time.

Just think of the vacations after you lose the weight. They will be so exciting. :bored:

Hi, all!

I was hoping for April, but my surgeon got a promotion and is in the process of switching medical practices, so it looks like May at this point. All of my requirements are met, just need insurance approval and a date. I'm impatient, but trying to use the time to practice new behaviors, mostly successful:thumbup:, sometimes not:sad: (I binged on sugar-free popsicles last night).

I am walking a lot and using my elliptical, and being mindful of and recording what I'm eating. I'm grateful to this site because it has let me know what to really expect, both positive and negative, which I find most helpful. I would love for the band to be magical, but have found out it's a tool that I have to use, it doesn't do the work for me. I have also found a mentor on this site, and she's supporting me staying in line (I do like to color outside the lines:rolleyes2:!)

My nutritionist said I was the most prepared of any of the clients he's seen, and should be successful with the band. I do my best to not listen to the "fear" voice and think positively.

Good luck and courage and perserverance to all our journeys!

Do any of you have people in your life that you feel might sabotage your weightloss?:) I don't mean that they will do it on purpose but they still have an effect on offering you something that you shouldn't eat or they will be the one to say "come on and eat this brownie, you want be able to after your surgery". I work with several people like this, we are very close at my job, but it is so upsetting that I just want to take the next 2 days off it is my pre-op complete liquids that the surgeon requires. How do I handle this? Help any suggestions are welcomed!!

My husband is like that, whenever I diet and exercise and do really good he always tempts me with something I shouldn't eat because I am doing so good he thinks I should cheat every now and then. He's gotta learn he can't do that anymore! You just gotta keep telling them no and let them know that even after your surgery you can't eat like that anymore!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
