My Six Month Bandaniversary

Recommended Posts

I cannot believe it's beeen six months since I was banded. I think I'm inbetween a rabbit and a turtle. I have rabbit weeks and then back to turtle. I went from a size 18W (I hate the W) to a 12-14. 12 in pants and 14 in tops. I am quite pleased, my body and skin are keeping up with the weight loss. It's not bikini perfect but I can be in a one piece without the dreaded tee shirt.

I am down 60 and have 36 to go to my goal. I can honestly say my band and I are living a normal life. I try to eat well but no absolutes. I'm a rule bender by nature and do not do well will them.

My surgeon's office is not supportive - he's s slice and dice kinds surgeon. I was very pleased with the surgury but almost resentful of the aftercare. Where is the cheerleaders and support!!!! So despite his practice I am succeeding. I am on this board everyday, reading and drawing stregth from you all . Thank you I can honestly say. Each reply or thread is leaving a lasting mark on my life.

I have met a few fellow bandsters along the way and have come to the conclusion - it's in the attitude. I am feeling the best I have been since I was married 10 years ago. My kids have noticed and DH is very proud of me. I was 150 when I got married in 1996 and my secret goal is to wear my penwar set on my anniversary.

I am off effexor and half the dose of my blood pressure medication. I hope I can come off it completely after the entire WL.

I am still in the mist of my journey and have learned to appreciate life a little differently. I'm not shying away from social setting with old friends and I'm not emmbarrassed any longer that I wasn't taking care of myself. I often visit the womens section in clothing stores and thank God I found the strentgh and the means to change my weight. I now see clearly how un happy , I truly was with myself. I was a frequent flyer at Weight watchers. I must have lost and regained 100 pounds, 20 at a time.

Well thank you for my brief moment of glory, I need to hunker down for the last stretch of the Fall WL Challenge.

Debby

~~~CONGRATULATIONS~~~ on your six month annaversary! Mine is going to be on Saturday! I am going to a huge party on Saturday too.
Im sorry that your surgeons office isnt providing you with enough support. I would hate to find out what that is like. I LOVE my surgeon and the office staff! They are wonderful people! Everyone should have an experience like that.
I am right behind you on the weight loss. I am down 50 some odd pounds. I am with you on being a rule bender...but usually when I break the rules, I suffer. I will tell ya about the pretzel rod that almost killed me some day! YIKES! No more damn pretzels~~ You are sooo fortunate to have the support of your family! You are making your husband proud weather you fit in that penwar set or not, but cha know what, you WILL DO IT!!
Well, I certainly am proud of you Debby Do~~~ Keep up the amazing work! We will pull into the station of our goals together!!!! We can do this! You have done amazing thus far!! ~CONGRATS AGAIN~
Congratulations! You have done a great job, and your post was inspiring and encouraging. I am at the almost 5 month mark, and I am losing slowly now, but steadily. I am a rule bender, too, so I understand that part. good luck on the remainder of your journey! Cindy
How fast time does fly. I dont get on often, and didn't even realize it has been 6 months. Congrats on the life change!! It is amazing to realize how loosing the weight (or inches) changes our outlook on life! I'm right there with ya, banded May 2,2005 - down 50 lbs and 30+ inches. I cant wait until the year, dang will we be cute!
      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.
      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
