Hey Jacquie and Darkangel....

I live in Clearwater, Florida.

I am feeling like crap today...ugh!! I have been doing well until today, I have gotten everything out of my fridge and pantry and have nothing to eat but Protein and yogurt and lean meats, eggbeaters, a few veggies and Water. Since I have reduced everything I am starting to feel extremely grumpy and agitated and a bit "low"...

I know this will pass in a few days ( i hope ) and I know the reasons to "not cheat"....and I'm not. But I just feel miserable...I hope you both are doing well. I'm still excited and looking forward to March 24th. This is just a temporary situation I am in now... and I really have no one to blame but myself for getting to this point. More than anything, I WANT TO BE HEALTHY!!! I'm sorry for complaining...its just different feelings right now...Looking forward to tomorrow to see Doctor and New Therapist....Hoping all will go well with results from pre op tests.

HUGS TO YOU BOTH!!!

Take Care,

Meg

I am in Ormond Beach, directly across the state from you Megg! We'll have to meet up in Disney for a visit.

Pictures are so important from what I have seen. I have become addicted to reading others journeys in their blogs (and have even started one) and everyone takes pics AND measurements. You should visit my blog to find the blogs that I am following. Such inspirational stories. Woman who have lost 100+ lbs. and who are keeping it off which is the part that has always eluded me.

I hope you two get through your pre-op diet ok, I am sure you will. Lets keep in touch!

Well...I am definitely headed for surgery on the 24th...

All of my pre op tests were fine and i got medical clearance today!!!

WOO HOO!!!

Now comes the official pre op diet and many many changes. I am so happy, fortunate, grateful, and willing to do what it takes to have a healthy life form this day forward...

No amount of food will ever make me "happy" I tried that for 40 years....and it NEVER WORKED!! Now it is time to do things a different way, a healthy way....My Doctors way...Here I go....

I choose to live,

Meg:thumbup:

Ok ladies....2 weeks from today we will truly begin our new life! How cool is that? I also took my before pic. Yuk! I cannot wait for the day that I do not have a uni-thigh! I also took all my measurements and will continue to do pics and measures every month on my bandiversary. Unfortunately, I am an everyday weigher so I will be doing that every morning as usual.

Have a great day!

Wow! I didn't realize that there were so many of us going on March 24th. I too am the 24th. I have an appointment with my nutritionist this afternoon and I guess she will start me off tomorrow. Not looking forward to this. I have not been afraid of anything but this part. I just can't imagine surviving on liquids only for 2 weeks. But I keep telling myself "I will be thin if I do this". Congradulations to all who have gotten this far, our journey to a new life is almost there. WE WILL SURVIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eileen

Hi Darkangel I am on day six of my liquid diet and although it is hellish it is getting a little easier. I cant tell you how much I miss food but it feels a bit like a right of passage. If I can survive this then everything else will be easy, right?

One tip is make sure you drink plenty of fluids. It will help with the headaches plus you will walk to the bathroom so much it will count as exercise

Good luck and stick with it x

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
