Slow Cooker Pepper Steak Recipe

Forgot to post this recipe last night. I know a few of you asked for it. This was A-MA-ZING!!! My husband, who isn't a huge fan of eating healthy LOL had 2 big plates of it and asked me if I can make it a regular thing!!!! I served with brown rice, but honestly, I filled up on the meat and forgot all about the rice. Enjoy!

Here is the recipe:

Original Recipe Yield 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef sirloin, cut into 2 inch strips
  • garlic powder to taste
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cube beef bouillon
  • 1/4 cup hot Water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 large green bell peppers, roughly chopped
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes, with liquid
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

1. Sprinkle strips of sirloin with garlic powder to taste. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the vegetable oil and brown the seasoned beef strips. Transfer to a slow cooker.

2. Mix bouillon cube with hot Water until dissolved, then mix in cornstarch until dissolved. Pour into the slow cooker with meat. Stir in onion, green peppers, stewed tomatoes, soy sauce, sugar, and salt.

3. Cover, and cook on High for 3 to 4 hours, or on Low for 6 to 8 hours.

Nutritional Information

Amount Per Serving Calories: 302 | Total Fat: 15.8g | Protein: 28.2g

Servings Per Recipe: 6

my wife just bought the fixins for the ranch chicken one you posted last week, I can't wait to try it!!!

This sounds like somethng I could make for my non dieting sons and keep them happy too. I will have to double it shough, they never eat one portion.

But I am always counting my Proteins, can you post the Protein count in a serving.

Sorry--I left that out!! It's 28.2g of Protein :crying:

I basically make mine the same way. The only difference is I use a couple of cans of beef broth instead of bouillon and water and I also add a couple of tablespoons of teriyaki sauce and some Kitchen Bouquet for flavoring and color. I just cook mine on the stove in a dutch oven pot with the cover on for about an hour until the meat is tender and then thicken accordingly. One of my favorites.

Can you repost your ranch chicken recipe. I must have missed that one.

Love crock pot food. Also love McCormic Crock Pot packs (about a dollar at the grocery store) add one cup of Water to ANY big hunk of meat (I have done leg of lamb, filet mignon roast) and turn it on low. The meat comes out super flakey and moist, pork would be good too! LOVE my slow cooker crock pot!

Cooked this one over night for Sunday dinner though would be a good week day dinner, I just wanted a relaxing Sunday compared to the usual cooking. It was a hit. The only thing I really changed was I added yellow and red peppers and ended up adding extra cornstarch to thicken it up a bit but it was delicious, no season necessary because the addins were salty enough(soy, boiulon, etc) I cooked Uncle Ben's Whole Grain Brown Rice and we poured a scoop of meat and juice over it and waalaa. We did mention that we could have cooked some broccoli on the side but anyways it still was filling.

I made this tonight for my son's and grandson and they all loved it.

I changed the recipe a bit too, I thought I had beef broth but it was beef gravy so I added that. I also browned the onions and some chopped garlic and added that. I doubled the recipe and the next time I will drain the liquid from one can of the tomatoes, it was a little too much sauce.

But it was delicious and everyone (except me of course) had seconds. I have always had problems with peppers, I avoid them because if I eat them I burp the pepper taste for two days. I am not sure if the band won't allow me to burp up but I ate it all and not a problem. I love the taste of peppers but have avoided them for so many years, now I can finally eat them again.

My baby (26) is on leave from the Marines and I made his favorite dessert for after dinner, monkey bread pudding. I don't know why it is called this, but it used to be served at Rainforest Cafe Restaraunts. It has bread, coconut, dried apricots, raisins and the custard is made of cream of coconut, milk, vanilla and eggs. And yes, I had a small piece of it and it went down way too easy. Now that is the way banders should eat bread...

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
