I'm Back!!!!!!

Hello All! Thank you so much for all the encouraging words. I had my Surgery on Oct 25th and I think I'm doing pretty good. The advice for the gasX and heating pad was right on the mark. I don't think I would of survived without them. I'm up and around. The soreness is almost gone except for the port incision of course. I lived the first four days on my recliner, finally made it to my bed so things are alot nicer. The only real thing that is driving me crazy is the gas. Burp Burp Burp Burp that is all I do. Plus that great air bubble that forms in the middle of my chest. Does this go away completely or am I destined to be a gassy the rest of my life. Hope not. :) My doctor has me on three weeks of liquids then three weeks of mushies. My husbands leg is beginning to look real good to me. I mean REAL good. I think I'm making him a little nervous LOL. Hope all others who had the surgery at about the time of mine are doing well. Thanks to all and excuse the quick babble of this.

Janet.:Bunny

HEY Janet, good to see you.

I'm still burping as well and I had it on the 24th. Other than being soooo hungry I am up and running around, going to stores, cleaning, cooking, the only thing I'm not doing is lifting. I made some ckn today with some cream sauce and I did taste the sauce. I can't wait to go on mushy food, I'm going nuts LOL.

I'm glad your doing well. Take care and feel better.

I also was banded on the 25th. Everything you said is true, I still get up in the middle of the night to sleep in the recliner, but the pain around the port site is getting better. I did have to visit the doctor yesterday because I thought my incisions looked infected but everything was all right, I did get to weigh myself-one week 14 pounds, WOW! I do know thats probably Water weight I lost, but it does make me feel good. I luckly only have to stay on the clear liqids only two weeks, I really don't think I'd make for three. I almost gag at the thought of broth and Jello, but keep plugging away. I'll remember your name and watch your progress. I think we all have made a positive move towards a healthier future!!!! Good luck:)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
