Over filled????

Recommended Posts

I am 18 months post op. I have lost 140 pounds so far :). I have 4ccs in my 14cc band. I have always been able to eat or drink most everything since my banding. (Just very small portions and MUCH chewing) However, since my last fill in November, I have been VERY restricted. Many times I can not eat solid food at all without it coming back up. When I DO eat solid food, I can not get Water to go down even 8 hours after I eat :). Milk on the other hand will go down at any time before or after I eat. Same thing with cheese. It has come to the point where I am baisically living on milk and cheese alone. Problem is, even though I am only eating like 3 slices of cheese per day, I am drinking 3/4 a gallon of whole milk each day (2400 calories per gallon ). For some reason 1% & skim are like water to my band and will NOT go through. They come right back up. Has anyone else experienced this? I have never gained a single pound between fills since my surgery, but now I am feeling my jeans starting to get tight. (I do not weigh myself between fills, I dont even own a scale) I do NOT want to start gaining when I am within 50 pounds of my goal weight. Have any of you experienced this?? Is it possible that my band is OVER filled?? I am going to see my surgeon next week for my next fill. I would like to be able to eat normal food again. All replies are appreciated. Thanks

Just came accross your thread, you may well be overfilled and in starvation mode. You may need to have a bit taken out. I was too filled for 6 months, I actually had only lost 10 lbs in those 6 months and went in for a fill cam out with 1 cc less. They have new equippment and I actually could see my band working and much to my surprise it was way too tight! I was Pb a few times a week and eating more slippery foods etc. If you are not eating that your body may be thinking you are starving. I am having issues with my trainer and nutrionist at the gym increasing my food amounts. So my weight is still stable but eating more. Hopfully they are correct.

But you may be too tight.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
