Anyone had severe band tightness after TT?

Recommended Posts

I had a Tummy Tuck and lift on Dec 17th, I am healing quickly and feel great, except that my band has gotten extremely tight, almost to the point where I can't keep liquids down some days. I did have a slight unfill before my surgery, but my band Dr. didn't want to take all the Fluid out. Has anyone else experienced a very tight band after TT surgery?

Thanks !

I've had my band since 17 December 2007, and I had abdominoplasty on Friday 12th February 2010 (4 days ago). I have noticed that I am able to eat even less since the abdominoplasty too, but I'm basically counting my blessings - I want to make double sure that I never go back to the way I was - fat.

My TT is scheduled for 4 wks from now, March 15th and no one has mentioned getting an unfill so I am debating whether or not I should do it. I don't mind being tight as long as I can get liquids down.

my surgeon and band Dr. both say it shouldn't be a problem (to NOT get any taken out), but with my history of my band tightening randomly, i'm going to have some taken out the day before we leave to head to the surgeon (i live a few hours away from my surgeon, so we are sleeping in a hotel the night before and the nights following).

as soon as i'm up to moving around and see how my band responds, i'll have a fill again.

Mimi:

Because of issues with nausea post-operatively my doctor and I decided I should be unfilled prior to plastic surgery. Thank goodness I was unfilled because I had wicked dry heaves after my Tummy Tuck and it lasted for almost a day. So, if you have nausea issues I would recommend an unfill, and if you don't, then you'll probably be okay with a little bit taken out. Don't forget about the swelling that will occur.

Best wishes to you with your upcoming surgery.

Good luck with your upcoming TT you will love it !! I just saw my lap-band Dr. 2 months after my TT and I asked him if it was normal to feel tighter after a TT. He said it is very possible as the PS could have tightened the muscle around the stomach area leaving less room for expansion.....

I am still losing, I have lost about 10lbs since my TT. I started out at 282 (5'4" size 22-24)-now 142 (size 6-8) goal 135...how about you? I never thought I would get to a size 6-8, when this all first started I told myself I would be happy to just get to a size 14-16 ! :-). What about you?

I am trying to do maintenance, but don't have a grip on how to manage it, so in reality I gain 2 lose 2, gain 3 lose 3. I am letting my scales guide my food choices. I never thought I would be an 8, let alone a 12. I thought maybe a 16!!!!! It has been wild for the last 15 months with many ups and downs. Ppl keep telling me how tiny I am yet I don't feel it. For my height (5')I really should lose another 10-15 pounds, but I don't think I could ever maintain the calorie count that low. I am thinking if my TT turns out well I will be happy at 130, approximately where I am now. I am not exercising like crazy or calorie restricting too strictly so I am hopeful I can maintain 127-132 range. LOL, gives me a chance for a chocolate binge every couple of weeks!!!!

You have done so well coming down from 284, congratulations!!!!!!

My surgery date is April 7th and i called yesterday to make my appointment for april 5th to get a tiny bit out.

I have had a few mornings that my coffee was not going down as easy as normal (not bad, just not as easy as usual) and i'm sure it's hormonal. i don't want to take the chance of that happening worse after surgery and not being in the same town my band Dr. is in to get relief.

I also get nausous VERY easy, and i don't want to hurt my band.

AS SOON as i can walk comfortable and haven't had any issues with being too tight, i will go back to get my band filled to were i'm at now.

your date is coming soon!!! i'm sure you are excited!!!

can't wait to hear all about it!

I had a Tummy Tuck in October. After the surgery it was so tight, I had a complete unfill. Now, I have less than half of the fill prior to surgery, same restriction. Crazy.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
