Got my second fill today. Only 1cc this time but I am down 3 lbs in 2 weeks. Go back for another fill in 2 more weeks. Now that the weather has warmed up and the rain has decided to stop I think I will start walking again on my breaks at work. When I was walking the weight seemed to come off faster.

Hey thats great thats like 1.5lbs a week  I have been walking for 20mins during my 45mins lunch breaks.. its my secret weapon in losing more weight heheh :o

I had my surgery 3/15/10. I have had 3 fills I'm not sure how much my Dr. put in I'm going to call and ask today but I don't feel like I have any restrictions. I stop myself from eating anymore but if I didn't I would keep eating. I'm making sure it takes me at least 15 minutes to finish a meal but I just haven't hit that "sweet spot" I'll be glad when I get there. However I weighed this morning and I have hit 199 which put me under the 200 mark! YEAH ME! LOL!!!

I was 1/3 done with it and I started having chest pain hehe I throw the rest in the fire (was at a bombfire) so I didnt think one second to try to keep eating it heheh!

I am down 4lbs this week.. I think its a comb. of my fill and my bodybugg which has been a godsent to me! Was 270 this morning.. Was 290 at surgery.. Hoping to get in the 250's for my 27th bday (june 21st)

Good evening all, I was banded on March 29th, and am down 30 since surgery. I lost 15 pounds pre surgery. I went for my first fill on Tuesday. I too was worried about the first fill, but it was no big deal. My doc had me stand and lean back so that he could feel the port. He had me drink Water as he was filling and asked me to tell him where I felt the water. He filled me with 1.5 cc. I was on liquids for 3 days and yesterday started on mushies. I had some pork with Beans ( I made sure to chew really welll) and I didn't feel like it was in my throat, but I had a pain in my side near the port. Is that what being stuck feels like?

Hello All,

It has been a rough week - I don't yet have restriction, but am also feeling full between meals. I think my biggest issues with the band are recognizing the feeling of fullness early on, and secondly eating loo quickly with too large bites. It is deffinitly a learning curve. This week I am only down 1 pound, but that is better than gaining!

We decided to join the town pool this summer after not being a member for a few years. My bathing suit was huge on me :smile2: I think that I will have to purchace a new one before the season is over. I bought goggles and did 12 laps which equaled 1/4 mile in 15 minutes. I was so excited to see that I burned 210 calories. I am going to try to make it a daily swim once the pool hours are longer after June 25TH. The good news is that I am still going to do my daily walk tonight.

I know that a lot of you also walk - are you guys finding that your feet ache? I am finding this the limiting factor on how long that I can walk.

I hope that everyone is well!

Cynthia

Hi everyone.....wow its been a while.

Ive been on vacation for the last two weeks on and off that is.

Weve been going out to Fire Island and even though there is internet connection...I dont feel like sitting in and getting stuck using computer instead of outside...at the beach or in town.

So far ive gotten two fills since surgery on March 9th. I have lost 45 lbs. and have been eating healthy. Ive got restriction...I think lol. Not hungry during the day.

Eating a Protein Bar for Breakfast, a piece of fish or chicken cutlet for lunch and then dinner is whatever lunch wasnt if im home....if out then ill have fish or some seafood something...mostly grilled something. lol

I have been keeping to the motto....less then 6g of sugar, and not more then 10-15% of daily recommended amts...on the labels. Have not eaten any "whites" as in bread, pastas etc.

Started eating some vegetables...broccoli, zuchini and salads.

I have been trying out new and different products that Ive never had before...canned Beans, chumus, pickels, qunoia, bulgur, millet..and a few other things like using sauces with no sugars....not worried about fat so much as sugar. Foods are going well....its the exercise that is a challenge to me!!

I hate hate hate to exercize....Have I made that clear?? Well, doing it anyways!! Twice with trainer and once alone now...im trying to do more but have a hard time getting to the damn gym. lol

well....things are just great!!! Down to a size 12 from 2x.

What a great feeling. I look and feel great. No more BP meds or Prevacid. Just the cholesterol and the pill that we need to take after surgery for six months so we dont get gall stones.

well.....I must be getting to sleep. Have a great night all.

Glad to see so many are doing so well!!

Keep up the good work fellow bandsters.

Jodi

Jodi you are doing great!!!!! I am in juniors size clothing for the first time in 2 years, and Ill tell you what that seeing the close a little big on me that I had already bought is a great feeling as well!

I hate to excersize probably more so then a lot of people. I have been slacking this last week with it, I would have lost more if I did it but my port site has been bothering me so I am slacking on the excersize. I have been outside running around with my son and walking everywhere, so I am being active just not exercising in home. I will most likely do it today though and start up again I just needed that much needed break. I have been doing plenty sit ups and crunches.

On the upside I had my 3rd fill yesterday of 1 cc totalling 7 cc's in a 10cc band. My surgeon walked in the door and praised me completely. He told me I was one of his best patients I have constantly steadily lost weight since the surgery and I have not gained any.. I am down another 3 since surgery day 30 lbs since surgery and 39 since one week pre op. I am almost in the 170's my mini goal is to hit 150 which is going to be hard. My mother in law is doing weightwatchers and shes lost 30 lbs but with gains throughout the whole process and shes like yea we are tied, but shes been on weightwatchers since january I have only had the band since march 2nd! It was my 3 month bandaversary (sp??) on wednesday!!!! Having the actual surgeon praise me on my progress was amazing. The woman who went in before me gained 5 lbs and said he said nothing to her at all.

He also told me that I lost a significant amount of body fat and my belly is just all loose skin. He has trouble accessing my port because of this fat loss. Which is a great thing just now it hurts to get fills because the port moves a lot more cause theres nothing there really holding into place but the mesh pocket he put in there. This is why I have been having port trouble because it flips around. crazy band!!!!:Dancing_biggrin:

Hello All,

I hope that everyone is doing well with their band.

I just had my 3 month Band Birthday and am SO happy that I am on this journey.

I was on a slow down for the last few weeks, but decided that I needed to jump start everything by upping my exercise and cutting my food intake a bit. I have my 3RD fill on Monday.

When I started this program, my surgeon made a comment that I took to heart - he said - I bet that you will be down 50lbs by the summer. Two more weeks until the end of school - for me the beginning of summer. Only 1 more pound to reach that mini goal that I set. 2 more pounds and I will be under 300!

Update you all! Want to know how you are all doing!

Cynthia

Thats great, my three month bandaversary was the 2nd of June and I had a fill one the 3rd. I am up to 7cc's in a 10 cc band. I have been semi slacking but my surgeon praised my weightloss and said my port trouble is due to my fat loss in the port area. Which is good. I have reached a good amount of restriction, I really have to chew chew chew or else some stuff gets stuck. Down 30 lbs only 57 till goal or something.

Tina - we are band date buddies! Congrats!

Liftingchic - 2 miles running - that is AWESOME!

Had my 3RD fill yesterday - I feel some restriction for the first time! I cannot believe it! I hope it lasts. I thought that I had a 10cc band and found out yesterday that I have a 14cc band. On top of that I hit the 50 pound lost club today - tomorrow I am hoping to be in the 200's - wish me luck! I will have to set a new mini goal - 275 sounds reasonable for Labor day.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
