Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Well, it looks like I might have a leak. I had a fill a month ago, and there was at .75cc less than I thought, and the saline was discolored (cloudy and orange, not clear). They took it all and out filled me to 2.25cc with new, clean saline. Had great restriction for a few days, but it slowly waned over the next week. Went in yesterday for another fill. They removed all the saline (it was yellow, even though they put in new, fresh stuff a month ago), and instead of being at 2.25, I was at just under 1 cc. I'm going to schedule the dye thing next week (they inject dye into the band to see if theres a leak). I can't think of any other reason for both the discolored saline and the missing saline other than a leak. It also explains why I'm struggling (barely any restriction). This will be my fourth lapband surgery if they have a leak to repair.

Hey guys,

Had my 1 year, 1 month checkup yesterday with my surgeon. Officially down 60 lbs. I'm so excited by new look and outlook. I'm now at 205 lbs. and really trying hard to bridge that 200 mark. I have good restriction and my doctor says the band looks fine. I don't go back for another four months, but if I need more restriction, I can come back for another fill. I have a lot of self confidence and know I can keep the weight off. Every time I've lost weight before, I've always put the large clothes aside - just in case. But this time, I'm getting rid of the clothes - size by size. I went from a 22 to my present 12 to 14. My hubby still complains that he keeps stumbling over the pounds I've lost. He said I need to watch where I lose them.

What's more - my surgery was a self pay. Well I got on insurance with my place of work and found out that they will cover 60% now. Hey 60 is better than nothing.

Thanks for all the encouragement. You are all GREAT!

Hello March 2010 Girls and Guys,

Been FOREVER since I have been here, but decided to come back and say hello to everyone who is here and see how everyone is doing. It has been a year and 4 months since my surgery - down from 360 to 253 - 107 pounds! I was loosing steadily but came to a complete standstill from about February to a few weeks ago. Mostly my fault - had not been walking and was in need of a fill which I kept putting off - could eat way too much. Well - went in for an adjustment 2 weeks ago and resumed walking and feeling great and the numbers are going down again :) Even though I am still quite heavy - life has changed so much. I can walk, bike ride, fit in an airline seat, keep up with the kids! Down from a size 34 to a 20!

How is everyone doing? Please post!

Cynthia

Hi. Looks like you are doing a good job.

I am having a hard time with my weight and medications that I am on. At first I lost 60 pounds and now I have gained 30 of those piounds back. I am trying very hard to eat right, but can't seem to find the right combination of foods to eat.

I have my surgery in Feb of 2008.

Hang in there and keep up the good work.

Be well,

Laura

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
