4 days post-op, really bad hunger pains

Recommended Posts

Ok guys, I need your help! I had my band placed on the 15th. I am experiencing wicked hunger pains, to the point that Im getting really nauseas and even light headed at times. Also, has anyone had problems w/ post op runs? . Im really batting 1,000 here. I have stepped up on my liquids and put a call into my doc. I can only imagine what bandster hell is like. Please help! :)

Hey there! I was banded on the 12th and don't go back to the doc until the 22nd to hopefully advance to puree. I get those hunger pains and I also feel light headed at times. When I start to get these feelings, I drink Water or another Protein shake. It seems to really help me!

It's definitely not easy with all the food commercials on tv and people eating all around you. You just have to keep in mind the end goal...weight loss! You WILL get through the hunger pain...it's not easy but it will happen. For me, I've tried to identify whether I'm truly hungry, or "head hungry." Before I was banded, I would eat out of boredom. Now I don't have that option so I know it's just head hunger and try to keep myself busy!!

Good luck!!

All I can suggest is Protein, Protein, protein and lots of water!!! It's the only thing that got me through the first two weeks! I promise it will get easier.

And I never hesitated to call my doc with questions or concerns--that's why they make the big bucks!

I hope you feel better and get some answers from the doc soon. Hang in there!

I had the same problem!!! I was banded on the 11th and I was dieing by day three with hunger pains and the runs. I dont know what happened but the last few days I haven't been starving...maybe I am just getting use to being hungry lol. Just make sure you get all your liquids and drink your Protein drink!!! It get easier day by day. I finally feel like the cravings are starting to go away ...

I was banded on the 14th and I also am having the same problems. I go from being sooooo hungry to being extremly nauseous. I really sucks, but I am hoping that it gets better. I am trying really hard on my Protein Drinks, but I am still only getting in about 30g when I am supposed to be getting 60g a day. But if I drink too much I get sick. I am also having problems with diarrhea and I think that is from just solely liquids. I go to the doctor tomorrow, I am hoping that I get advanced to mushies. Take care, and we will get through this!!

I was banded Dec 14 and was crazy hungry until my 2nd fill which was Jan. 14. I am now at 5cc's in a 10cc band and I eat some and it controls my hunger. Good Luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
