  1. This is a typical response. I chose not to tell anyone in my family I had the surgery...because I know that would be the reaction I got. DON'T listen to them. I was banded 4 months ago and still don't have restriction...but I have managed to lose 47 pounds in the last 4 months because I eat good and exercise. It's all what you put into it. Don't let others discourage you!!!! You are doing this for you! Good Luck with your surgery! You will do great
  2. I totally understand where everyone is coming from....yes you need to be committed before you have the surgery. But just know that the first 6 weeks were the hardest--2 preop and 4 post op...but you can do it. Commit to yourself today. Follow your doctors orders....it gets easier you just have to believe in yourself that you CAN do it. Good Luck!!!!
  3. I was nervous about drinking after also. I waited 8 full weeks before. It didn't bother me at all! No Beer though!! I am a cranberry and vodka drinker also...last night I found diet cranberry juice with 5 calories!!!! I was so excited. Now I only feel guilty about drinking the vodka
  4. Hello there! Now that it's ice cream season, and I was having such cravings...I thought I would try and make a shake to take the place for the ice cream....and oh my god is it amazing. chocolate Peanutbutter Shake 6 oz chobani plain greek yogurt 4 oz skim milk plus 1 tbsp chocolate peanutbutter (regular peanutbutter would be fine) 2 tbsp light chocolate syrup. Calories: 285 Prot: 26.5 g Soooo good! Hope you enjoy
  5. I'm 8 weeks post-op tomorrow and down 34 lbs. You can do it!!!!
  6. Okay so I was banded on Jan 11th 2010. The first four weeks I lost 26 lbs and was so excited.....and in the last week I haven't lost a thing! This happen to anyone else? I'm only eating between 550-750 calories a day...how is it possible to not be losing? Going next thursday for my first fill hopefully.
  7. So I usually eat greek yogurt for breakfast but today I wanted to do something different. So i did one egg, and cut up 2 oz of chicken and just a very little broccoli and cooked it up. I am suppose to have 2-3 oz of prot per meal so i thought this was great, but after i cooked it it looked like so much! It had to be a cup of food if not more. Is this too much to be eating? I mean I ate it all and felt fine..but it looked like so much more than I have been eating regularly. I dont want to stretch my pouch I just got nervous.....
  8. I was band 1/11/10 and i felt EXACTLY the same!! the growls from my stomach were sooo loud! it was keeping me up at night. when i went to my 2 weeks check up my doc said it probably wasn't hunger, it was gas bouncing up and down inside...i think it was hunger. but by day 5 i felt fine and really haven't been hungry since except right before meals. Hope this helps!! it only gets better from here! good luck
  9. Sounds great! I was just banded on Jan 11th! My email is dmcguire86@newpaltz.edu. Also didnt tell anyone that I had it done! Feel free to add me.
  10. First of all, congrats on the pre-op loss ..thats great!!!!! As for the surgery, I was just banded last monday (1/11) and it was cake. I was up walking as soon as i was out of the recovery room! There will be quite a bit of gas but thats really the only uncomfortable part and as long as you are up and walking it will work itself right out. Don't be scared, it will be worth it in the end. Small price to pay for something that will change your life ...ya know? Good luck and stay positive!!!
  11. I had the same problem!!! I was banded on the 11th and I was dieing by day three with hunger pains and the runs. I dont know what happened but the last few days I haven't been starving...maybe I am just getting use to being hungry lol. Just make sure you get all your liquids and drink your protein drink!!! It get easier day by day. I finally feel like the cravings are starting to go away ...
  12. ahh I keep reading that....the hunger part!!!! My doctor and nutritionist made it seem like it would a struggle to get all the liquids in....and I keep seeing the opposite on here! It's making me nervous!!! I will definitely get my butt walking. Thanks for the advice!!! And congrats on the surgery.
  13. So this is it, I am having my surgery in five days..just wondering if anyone has any last minute suggestions, things I should do to prepare. or just something you wish you would have done/known before surgery?
