Well, I thought I was doing really well not getting sick. I got my 3rd fill this past Thursday and now I am up to 5 cc's. I followed the post couple day after fill requirements, but tonight I had a little chicken. Well, not good. It came back up. It was the worst feeling in the world. First it just felt like I couldn't breath and like, well it was stuck. I have had that feeling before, but walking around usually helps. Not this time. Was it the chicken? Now my upper abdomen hurts. Is this normal?

You are probably a little swollen from getting sick. I'd stay on liquids for a little while just to let it settle.

You may have eaten too fast or didn't chew enough, but it's also possible you are now at a level of restriction that your band will no longer tolerate chicken. Do you think you chewed it thoroughly?

Hope you feel better.

Its funny you mentioned the chicken...this whole time I never had issues. Then I got my 1st fill a few weeks ago, had chicken...and I guess it was too dry and yep, had my first vomiting episode. It was the worst feeling in the world!

My suggestion is chill on the chicken and if you decide to go back and try it again, make sure its moist....or use a sauce. And chew very very well...be cautious. LOL.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
