Big fill, but no different then before...7.75CC in 10CC band

Recommended Posts

I'm VERY concerned! I had a fill on Tuesday of 1.5CC in my band that already had 6.25CC in it for a total of 7.75CC. It's only a 10CC band. My weight loss had completely stopped for four months which is why i got the fill. I was able to eat way more than 4oz also. I switched back to regular food today and the band doesn't seem to be any tighter than it was before the fill. I'm worried that I've stretched my pouch which is why things don't feel any different with this fill. Can anyone offer some insight please?

If you think you stretched you're band then go back to liquids for a few days...I would say you just need more of a fill...as you get closer to capacity the smallest fills will make a big difference.

That is why I'm concerned. 1.5CC is a pretty big fill. That brought me up to 7.75CCs. I feel like I should have way more restriction than I have now.

I have an 11cc band and I am at 8.7 cc in it. I still need to get another fill. Sometimes people completely fill their bands to be at their sweet spot. Talk to your doctor if your concerned about a stretched stomach. I just did the 5 day pouch test to get me back on track with my eating and to see if I felt I needed a fill and I know I definitely need a fill

Everyone is definitely different. Even without a fill I was getting some restriction on certain foods. I had my first fill this morning with 7ml (cc's) in my band and I think I already have my sweet spot... struggling a bit already with my lunch... might even need to get a bit taken out of it doesn't improve in the next day or two

1.5 cc's is a big fill...I was getting fills like that. I have a 14 cc band and it wasn't until I got to 11.8 cc's that I got great restriction. My fills going forward will be more like .5 cc if that. You're getting close and maybe with you're next fill you'll see! Good luck!

I just wanted to update everyone. My boyfriend took my x-ray of my pouch in to his doctor today. The doctor was horrified. My pouch is extremely stretched and a fill should have never been done by my doctor (which is why the fill did nothing!). So now I paid $250 to this doctor for a fill when he should have been taking out the Fluid. Apparently he doesn't know what a stretched pouch looks like. Now I have to pay an additional $250 to have all the Fluid removed, plus start over from scratch with fills! I'm stuck in a rut. I switched from my original surgeon because he was an ass and doesn't believe in the lapband and was also 8 hours away from where I currently live. Again, that doctor wouldn't listen to me when I said something was wrong in July 2009. So I switched to the ONLY doctor within a 5 hour radius of where I live who has turned out to be incompetent. I guess I'm going to have to finally bite the bullet and fly to my boyfriend's doctor.

I'm just praying this can be fixed with time and patience and not surgery!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
