Restriction from Day One

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone.

I have read so many posts about people with no restrictions. Is there anyone out there that has had good restriction from the beginning and can share their success storys? I would really like to hear about that.

I am starting to get nervous when I read all these posts about not having restriction for 3,4,5,6,7 fills and then having to take some Fluid out and still not feeling satisfied. Or correct me, is that a normal situation for most?

Thanks for sharing ;)

Hello, I am only 4 weeks out but I am still eating very little. Maybe 1/2 a cup and it keeps me full for at least 4 hours. My doctor says that I should be able to eat about 1 cup. I keep reading posts where people at the point where i am are starving. I do get hungry but a little bit fills me up. I keep waiting to wake up one morning and want to eat my leg off. I have a fill scheduled for the 25th but if things don't change i might cancel it. If i am still not eating much and losing weight i see no reason to get one. I am hoping it stays this way!!!!

I have no idea what's going to happen...but I had my surgery on December 31/09 and had to have the primer Fluid removed 4 days in because I couldn't even swallow Water. I've not had a fill and am rarely ever hungry. I've progressed from barely being able to eat 3 spoonfulls before becoming full to now I can eat almost a cup of food at a sitting. I'm probably not completely healed and I likely still have swelling so this fullness thing may not last, but right now I'm pretty happy with the results.

I have had pretty good restriction sonce surgery. I had no fill added at the time of the surgery. I usually eat from 1/2 c to 1 cup at a time and stay nicely full for anywhere from 2-5 hours. I am scheduled for a fill next week. I'm nervous though because I have maintained nice loss and am at 40 lbs lost today since surgery on the third of december. I hope that once I get there they don't send me home, lol.

I had restriction from day 1. In fact, my doctor thought I might be one of those people who didn't need a fill, but it didn't turn out that way. I needed a fill about 3 months after surgery and I've small ones every 25-30 lbs. I think it's common to need a fill as you lose. I never went through the bandster hell that so many do. My post-op liquid diet wasn't bad, because I wasn't hungry.

Thank you everyone for your storys. I have not been in bandster hell either and I am on week 7. I do feel I am somewhat restricted because I know how I was before, always hungry and I not experiencing that now:smile2:. But I do welcome a fill. Now that I listen to you all I feel good, Thanks Again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
