patty I don't think you really want to get into this kind of contest. First, it solves nothing and second, you lose.

PG, prove it wrong. Not once have you address the fact of your arrogance. Proves to me that you do recognize a problem with your attitude towards others. If the shoes fit wear them. Without addressing issues with yourself, in which maybe, just maybe, you have bitten off more than you should chew by saying you speak for God, you must apparently accept those descriptions knowingly. No one but you has called or implied superiority to anyone who doesn't think like you.

You're getting into a contest, ninny ninnie nah nah, about who called the other person the most bad names. I don't think you should get people riled up enough that they go back through your posts and bring all the examples to light. It's just not prudent.

She constantly brings up how the republicans or conservatives are 'dangerous' and 'evil' or 'ignorant', and she uses the protests of a few to generalize the majority of them. This can be said of the democrats and their protests as well. For every one name caller in a protest group, there are thousands and thousands who are not name calling. She needs to get over it. This is what happens at protests everywhere. On her side and on mine.

You missed the whole point PG. I have never specifically called Rethugs ignorant, evil or stupid. I have called you arrogant, ignorant beyond yourself, and never called you evil. I called you arrogant because of you superior attitude and ignorant of the plight and inequality of others. Give me a thread where I have called anyone else anything else.

Palin is a given.

OK, let's get back to the debate at hand, or even maybe to the thread subject. But leave the name calling, regardless of sides, or parties or belief out of it, it is against the LBT rules.

This is the rants and raves area of Lap Band talk. It is here specifically for talking off the Lap band subject. If you want to talk about your band, go to the threads that talk about it.

Gramma-O, I appreciate how you feel. I am not sure how you come to this thread, but it is located in an area of this site, called Rants and Raves. In this area you will find a wide variety of subjects covered, and very few band related.

When you come here, you develop relationships and friendships, and find things in common as well as differing opinions with those you communicate with so frequently---and when it was found threads were veering way off subject, this area was added, so they could be discussed, and debated. There will be stronger language and stronger feelings on subjects in here.

It is totally possible to spend hours a day on the site and not enter into the Rants and Raves or the powder Room (personal subjects, also not always band related) areas.

Many of us are very involved in our politics, as it affects our lives, and we choose to discuss them. No matter how much room we take up here, there is plenty left in the General Support areas of the site.

Under thread tools you will find a way to unsubscribe yourself from this thread if you choose to.

Good Luck with your band.

I only visit "new posts" and it was in this category. I still feel this site should stick to ONLY bariatric issues. I can go anyplace else for the other garbage!

Did you read kat's post, gramma-o? Lap Band Talk gives people a forum to discuss lots of things that we're bothered about or happy about. The thing that we all have in common is the lap band. But that is not the only thing on our minds.

We understand that you're uncomfortable with the Rants & Raves threads at LBT, but it fills a need for those of us who do enjoy it. Rather than taking it away from us, why don't you just confine yourself to the threads and topics that you enjoy?

P.S. We do not consider debating issues "garbage." We consider these issues life in the United States. Sure you can ignore them and call them garbage, but they won't go away no matter how much you'd like them to.

gramma-O I wondered if perhaps you came here from New Posts. I will say in defense of the thread tho, that there is no way with the title that it could be confused with a lap band support thread. The title is self explanatory.

Just as it takes all kinds of people in this world---we have all kinds here on LBT too. If you enjoy the rest of the site, then I would simply suggest, watching what a title reads, and where it is located prior to opening to read it.

I am not personally aware of any other lap band site that does not also have open areas where members discuss any topic of their choice. I do know of other sites, but they are set up, much as this is, and include areas just like this. I hope you find a site to suit you.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
