Are you at the stage where you can have refried Beans? If so they're great with a little salsa and sour cream...

Hmmm, at this point in your post op I would make it a meal. But I never had a seperation of meal and snack until after the healing stage. Try to stay within the prescribed measured amounts but the Beans should really be filling...heck I think I might of had it all 3 meals some days!

As going through this for a second time I feel your pain. I am hungry as hell, But believe me it is all worth it. drink and drink and drink. Refried Beans from Taco Johns are the best have them leave the toppings off but add mild sauce or hot as I can't have the chunky salsa yet but I do love them and they get you through. I got to have some last night. mmmm filled me up and had no problems. When I eat cream of wheat or coco wheats I just seem to be hungry faster. I am for one not an expert but I have lived with the Band for a year and I get a surprise weekly.

Since I had my band repositioned from a slip on Jan 6th it is bandster hell allover again. I will just deal with it. I think it is harder on my wife that me.

Perhaps you need a fill. But you are satisfied for 5 hours after a meal...that's great! You can have a hard boiled egg or some kind of Protein snack. Be careful with refried Beans. Most restaurants use lard in the refried beans which would defeat the purpose of eating high protein, low fat. I would ask first before eating them if they use lard.

I'm doing a low fat cheese stick late morning and low fat yogurt late afternoon to keep me from binging like a mad woman....Fill tomorrow! I don't expect perfection but I hope there's at least some restriction, right now there's essentially nothing

I believe this poster is fresh out of surgery so nooooo hard boiled egg!!!!

Going 5 hrs before getting hungry on the small amounts of food you are eating is great.. Don't be so hard on yourself.

What I was told do do was to eat the prescribed size meal/ amount of protein/veggies/whole grain. If I got hungry in less the 4 hours, I was to snack on Protein like a boiled egg, ounce of low fat cheese or a little deli sliced turkey (all around 70 calorie options). If you're making it to 5 hours I'd hardly complain as being able to go 4 hours between meals was the goal that was set for me.

Now, at my sweet spot, I have a awkward timing on meals in that I have to go to lunch no later than 12:30 (office requirement) and I don't get off until 5:30 and I have a hour-and-a-half commute and that is simply too long between meals. If I don't snack on something, I literally am so hungry when I get home, I eat anything I can put my hands on. So about 5:00, I have a no sugar fruit cup or an ounce of low fat cheese and I'm fine....and that 60-70 calories is a heck of a lot better than walking in the door and eating the baby's Cookies while I cook dinner.

A lot depends on your surgeon's post-op instructions of course. But to be hungry 5 hours after a meal is normal.

I was told that a meal should hold me roughly 4 hours or so. I find it to be sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less.

My surgeon also said he doesn't want me "snacking" which to him is brainlessly eating between meals. To me it was eating between meals, period. For him, a low fat, planned food is fine if I am hungry. High fat, high carb (i.e. junk food) snack foods are unacceptable. That was an enlightening conversation.

Thank you for your responses! I tried the refried Beans (not from taco bell but from trader joes) and i was in so much pain afterwards so i think i might hold off on that one. Im just so scared ill stretch out my new little stomach/pouch.

BTW i dont get my first fill until Feb 5th, it seems like so far away!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
