rebanding

Recommended Posts

i had a LAP-BAND® put in nov 12, 2009. i loved it and was doing well until a few weeks ago when i began having pain and reflux and ultimately, I had to have it removed a few days ago due to slippage and obstruction. the plan was reposition it, but my surgeon felt upon seeing my stomach that it needed time to heal before banding again. i'm very disappointed and down abt it. i am already excited abt doing it again, despite the troubles i had. i still feel the LAP-BAND® is the right choice for me. my question is, have any of you chosen to have a second LAP-BAND® surgery and, if so, how long were you required to wait between surgeries (from removing the first one to placing the 2nd one?) thanks in advance for any input

Hi,

There is a woman in my support group who was rebanded. She had her band removed in July of 2009 and it was replaced in November, I think. The reason it took so much time was, like your surgeon, our surgeon wanted to give her time to heal, and then she had to wait for approval from her insurance.

The time lapse might not be so long for you. I forget how much of her wait was due to insurance, but she's doing great!

Good luck!

Debbie.

I just had a band slip repaired jan 6 I went in for a fill and found out I had a band slip went in to the OR that afternoon the Dr. took out my band and rebanded me at the same time. Although he placed the new band above the place where the old band was located so I will have a smaller pouch. This just happened this week so it is all pretty new for me. I had been banded for a year before I had any problems. Scotty D

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
