Are meals 'intentional'...or an afterthought?

Recommended Posts

Just curious how most people viewed their meals. Pre-band I had a tendency to eat on the go. Many nights, now that my kids are grown, I'd fix dinner and we'd eat it in front of the tv.

Now, I put out a decorative placemat, set a place setting and light the candles on the table. I bring all my food to the table and sit and 'dine'...whether it's Breakfast, lunch or dinner and even if it's just a Protein shake...and even if it's just me all by my lonesome. Eating has become an 'experience'.

I love my Wood Wick candles because they have a flat wood wick that sounds like a crackling fire place when it burns. Very nice ambience.

Ohhhh What a good idea! I'm gonna try this for Lunch... I need to make my meals more of an experience... I have a BAD BAD BAD habit... I wait until I'm totally starving and then think to make something to eat... Then I seem to wolf it down.... However, I'm wolfing down much less than I used to eat and wolfing now takes 10 minutes for a 1/4 cup of food as opposed to a whole dinnerplate full in 5 minutes... But last night I had a full cup of Tomato Soup and I was miserable with a full stomach for the next 3 or 4 hours... And that was consumed while working.... I probably would have realized I was full sooner if I had paid attention to my eating instead of working on my laptop....THANK YOU for the great idea!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
