I posted this on the complications forum, but no one has made any comments on it...so I posted here as well...

Over about the last three days, when I eat my stomach just feels irritated. It does not feel irritated when I'm not eating, although I feel a little bit of reflux in the back of my throat, which I never have. Is it possible I've irritated my stomach lining around the band or something?

Should I go on liquids for a few days to let my stomach calm down?

I will also call and leave my surgeon a message and see what he can tell me as well.

Hi Bethany,

I was having similar symptoms recently, and finally saw my surgeon this week. Turns out I was too tight, and as a result I had stretched my pouch slightly and had some inflammation (food just wasn't getting through). He deflated my band some and told me to come back in 3 weeks, by which time he thinks the issue will have corrected itself, and I can get a fill. So I now have very little restriction, and I have to be very careful to monitor my portions so I'm not overeating between now and my next visit. I felt immediate relief with the unfill--no pain after eating and no reflux the past two days!

Of course, your situation might be different--but I just wanted to share my experience and HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you see your surgeon sooner rather than later. In my situation, if I had gone on too much longer I could have done much more serious damage.

Good luck to you!

Val

Thank you for your response...I did leave my surgeon a message on his cell phone today, so I'm just waiting for him to give me a call. I had just the broth from wonton Soup for lunch today and that didn't cause me any pain, so that was nice...but still feeling a little indigestion.

I'll be curious what he says I should do...I guess it could be very possible I need a slight unfill. I'll let you know what happens!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
