How long do you have to wait to get PG after the band..?

Recommended Posts

I'm working on getting the band sometime this spring and I'd also love to get pregnant. I've heard some doctors ask you to wait a year..

Did you ladies wait a year?

If we're going to have another baby ..it's going to be as soon as we get the green light from the dr's .. we already have a son that's 3.5 and I don't want lots of space in between.

Thanks!

Goodevening Kristen,

I was told 12 to 18 months. Although I know a few girls that got pregnant 5 to 8 months out and all had healthy BIG babies. Their surgeons weren't concerned and they ended up getting a unfil so that they could get the proper nutrition needed.GL...I'm hoping the same for myself eventually:)

I got pregnant about 18 months after getting the band. I lost most of my weight in the first 6 - 8 months so my weight has been pretty stable for the past year.

I had my my band placed in Jan of 09. I asked my doctor how long she wanted me to wait in August and she said I could conceive anytime.

My surgeon said no babies for 36 months...which is fine by me!

My surgeon says to wait atleast 12 months. Partially because we lose a greater amount in the first 12 months, then he says it slows down a bit. I plan to keep my weight loss moving steady personally.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
