I expected the 5 little scars after the op, and hoped they would fade over the next few years. However, 4 months in and I still have 3 round red little scars above and below each of the 5 incision scars where the staples where.

So each of my 5 scars now looks like this:

. . .

----

. . .

I have had general stitches for cuts in the past and they never left scaring. Any one else been left with this?

HI, these may be small cuts in size, but they are very deep and so the scar tissue is bound to be quite pronounced and thick.

I am in Australia but I assume you can get this sort of thing in the UK too....gel type scar Patches that you put on each night and then take them off, rinse them under the tap and repeat the next night. These reduce the texture of scars.

Have a chat with your local pharmacist or try Boots or something similar. They are quite expensive, but very effective and the ones we get can just be cut to size and re-used for 3-6 months.

I was thinking the other day that there is going to be a whole generation of women with these 5 little scars.

I don't really care how large the scars are, they are small compared to the emotional ones I was sustaining daily whilst morbidly obese.

I'm not worrying about five little scars after having gallbladder, tubes ties, & hysterectomy. I'm going to have a Tummy Tuck and a panni surgery when this is all over anyway...so what's a few more scars. No one but me, hubby and doctor sees them anyway. I'd rather be healthy than scar free.

Thanks, great advice, I will lookout for those

I know, I know, I agree with you. Its just that I still have this wild dream that when I lose all the weight I will end up 12 stone, without any loose skin, have a six pack, and will be walking across a beach in the South of France with woman throwing themselves at my feet.

Unfortunatly the reality says this will not happen and that I should just be happy with loosing the weight and not worry about any scars :biggrin::biggrin:

My doc used Dermabong glue, it was awesome. Flaked off about 2 weeks after surgery. No trouble at all. Anyone else have that?

I was glued together but I still have my

five little stripes to contend with.

I know that rosehip seed oil will

erase scars and stretch marks.< /p>

Massage it in the area twice a day.

Never on open wounds though...

they have to be healed before using rosehip seed oil.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
