I am just so happy you were able to be sleeved and that you are ok! That would be great if you could get a tummy tuck when they take it out. I wonder why they didn't find the fibroid before. Wow! Keep us posted on how you are doing. Hugs~

I agree totally! The plus size clothes are usually ridiculous~ I am so ready to be able to shop in the normal section at any store I want. I can't to kiss LB and those other plus size stores goodbye!

Hi there~ We have a lot in common! I have three kids about the same ages as yours. My youngest are 5 and 7 and they attend the school where I teach. I started with a band, but I am getting it taken out due to complications. Luckily, I was able to schedule my sleeve (revision) surgery over the Christmas holidays, so that my kids can stay with their grandparents while I recover. Be so thankful you are not having a lapband and instead getting a sleeve. You are making a great choice! Imagine how wonderful you will feel this summer at DisneyWorld. There is so much support on this forum. I think the three month wait is a good thing so that you are mentally prepared. It will give you time to research and feel ready. That has been how long I will have had to wait when my surgery date comes. Good luck on your journey to a new life! Message me anytime!

Such an inspiring story!!! I am so glad you are following your dream to be in the millitary. I also stuggled with my weight during childhood. It is such a painful memory, even to this day. I just hope I am as successful as you. Congrats!

Awww....so sorry that happened! I have to agree with the other posts though~ truly be thankful you didn't have a band put in. I know it will be hard to wait for your sleeve, but my band has been horrible and I wouldn't wish my painful experience on anyone. Your day will be here soon!!!

Congrats and welcome! I am being sleeved December 20th~ I am always so happy when I hear that someone has decided NOT to get a band. Mine has been nothing but a pain (literally). Good luck with your surgery! It will be here before you know it.

Congrats! I am a December sleever, too. I wish I could have had my sleeve at 23!

I will be sleeved Dec. 20. We will be in this together! I am planning on having everything done for Chrismtas before my big day. I have three kids, so it will be interesting.

I don't even want to get started with what other people say! LOL I am quite tired of having to justify what I am doing, so I don't really discuss the issue with anyone except for one close friend and my husband. I think all of us have lost and regained hundreds of pounds in our lives. We know that we may lose and keep it off for awhile, but all it takes it one slip up and we are right back where we started. I even gained weight back with my lapband. I have found peace with not discussing it. I come here for my support. If the person you are talking with hasn't had a weight problem, they will never understand your side. Now, when you do lose all of the weight, I don't think they will have as much to say!

Men always lose weight easier though. I wonder if a woman did this if the results would be the same. I don't know if I could eat that for two months! BLAH~

I am having a band to sleeve revison due to a small slip and broken tubing. My doctor says that once your band has slipped there is a VERY HIGH chance it will happen again. When I was waiting for my endoscope, I met a girl who was in for her second slip. She was hoping her doctor could fix it, but when he went in, she had to have her band taken out. She was in tears when we woke up together in recovery and the nurse told her. I felt so bad for her. If you research, you will see the evidence of all the horrible issues that having a lapband long (and in some cases short) term can have. My advice is to have the sleeve, but I guess my opinion will be a little more validated after my surgery on December 20. Good luck!

I will pray for you! I know how your feel. I had an exclusion and paid $8,000 for a lapband that didn't work. Even though I have coverage now, I still have a $2,800 co-pay for my revision. Are you sure the hospital won't allow a payment plan? I would think they would rather have a payment plan than to not cover the surgery at all- since they will still get plenty of money from the insurance. I would call and speak to someone at the hospital and explain your situation. Don't give up!
