  1. I took it a few years ago for smoking, like tiff sId great for the smoking. Not so much for anything else. They should have called it," no sex at all" needless to say I went back to smoking. I did quit back in Jan of this year with chantix. Everyone is different. What works for some doesn't work for others. Give it a try. Deb
  2. I have been keeping two dresses from my thinner days. A black slinky sequined dress size 10!! And one that is just a plain linen dress size 12 P. They both fit!!! So excited!!!! Imagine my surprise when the black one flowed over my hips. ( which are a still somewhat big) the linen dress is lose in the bust and shoulders kind of snug but not tight in my hips. Once my hips are a little smaller, I will have it altered. Oh yeah zumba must be working!!!! Deb
  3. I have UHC and I originally started the process wanting lap band. Once I went to the seminar I quickly changed my mind to VSG. I called UHC and spoke with my coordinator about how I have changed my mind and I would like to have the sleeve instead. Her only concern was if I was switching doctors. I did not have any problems with getting my sleeve. Have you called and spoke with a coordinator? Good luck with everything! Deb
  4. I haven't had a mt. dew, dr pepper or a pepsi in 15 months. I don't miss them at all. Just like when I gave up smoking I was determined to walk away from that nasty habit. I did it in a week. Don't miss that at all!! Between sodas and cigarettes the money I saved went for a beach rental for a week, shopping, and saved the rest for Christmas presents this year. Deb
  5. Hi wishes. I will have an answer for you today. The tt would be without muscle repair. (Which is what I have a CPT code for.) Deb.
  6. From day one when I decided that I was taking back my life, I watched, read everything I could get my hands on about WLS. I originally was going after the lap band. So I did a lot watching and reading about the lap band. Once I attended the seminar that (lap band) was not even an option anymore. I was wanting to google VSG ASAP. I watched soooooo many videos of the procedure being performed. I came accross VST then I would read and read every evening after work everyday. Deb.
  7. UPDATE...... I spoke with a Representive from UHC and Yes Breast lift and thigh lift are a covered procedure. (However brachioplasty is not) When accompanied by documentation. So Now to schedule an appointment. Not before I have another visit with my PCP to check in and have more documentation. (More is sometimes better) Then we will see where this goes. I may have to seek several opinions, don't want to be tied to just one. If anyone has UHC and has any addtional info please share. Just wanted to share what I have found out. Thanks, Deb.
  8. Just started taking a zumba class. I like it. The instructor is awesome. I didn't feel uncomfortable or like anyone was watching me. Some of the moves were easy some weren't.( at least for me) I know me, if I have DVD's They would gather dust and not get used. So by having to take the class that I have shelled out money for is an insentive to go. Plus it is on my way home from work. Which is another reason for me to be proactive in going to class. I will continue until I reach goal. Between the zumba classes I'm doing the kettlebell work out. More cardio and weights as I near goal. I now have more time to include more activity. For six months straight I had been working six days a week, 65 hours a week. Which didn't leave much time for anything else. Now I will be making the most of the time that I have now to get the weight off. (27 pounds seems like it will take forever) LOL...... Deb
  9. I'm going through that now. I know it will pass and the weight will drop. (to top it off, my scale broke so my weekly weigh in didn't happen Saturday morning) time to invest in a good scale. Be patient. I was frustrated at first, not so much now. Deb
  10. Everyone is different during TOM. I actually LOSE more weight 2-3 days before. I recently was on vacation, I gained 3 pounds when I came home I dropped 11 pounds in 5 days. So I can say I lose and yes I do weigh myself. One month I didn't gain nor did I lose as much as the previous month. Play it by ear. I did. Deb
  11. I would contact Cigna to find out what exactly their requirements are. Ask if they could send you the requirements in writing either email or snail mail. I have UHC and I called to ask what the requirements were as what was online was vague and cryptic. I spoke with a coordinator and she sent the info via email and snail mail. So I had both. The insurance coordinator with my surgeon's office even had the requirements and I received those as well. So I was aware of the requirements no hidden surprises that would delay my surgery. Good luck Deb
  12. WOW!!!!!! You look fantastic!!!!! I am waiting till I get my "new Boobs" before I wear a bikini top.... Deb
  13. No pre-op diet here. Thats all since surgery. Which makes me appreciative of what the sleeve can do!!!
  14. I am so close to just being over weight. .8 till my BMI is under 30. Can't wait to see that. It seems like it has taken forever to leave the 43 BMI behind. I can't believe that I have lost 70 pounds! That's so hard for me to wrap my head around. I hope that by the end of the week I can say that I'm just over weight. LOL.... Deb
  15. I had one to two staples per incision. And now my scars are just about not so noticeable. Deb
  16. I could've easily went back after 1 week. However, I still had the staples so my surgeon would not release me until they were out and he examined me. So I had to wait 2 weeks. Deb
  17. My labs after 6 months came back excellent. (PCP ordered labs for her record) As for being cold, I was a cold fat girl now I'm a cold (medium?) girl. Stricture, no. No ill side effects as far as I can tell. I feel GREAT! food tolerence issues- I do find I can not tolerate sweets. So to me that is a plus. I have no issues with any OTC pain meds. I sleep better now than I did 8 months ago. I will see my surgeon in October so we will see what he thinks. Deb
  18. YES!!!!! No hesitation at all!!!!!!! Deb
  19. Welcome Kacey!!! Good Luck with everything!!!! This forum is loaded with a lot of super nice knowledgeable individuals. Any questions just ask and I'm certain you will receive an abundance of replys. Again, Welcome!!!! Deb
  20. Good Luck to your mom. Keep us posted!!!! Deb
  21. I had MASSIVE hair loss @ the 3-4 month mark. I do take 5000 mg of Biotin twice daily. My hairloss has went from uber hand fulls to just barely enough to cover the drain in the shower. I do have acrlyic nails and my nail tech has noticed that my nails under the acrylics has grown faster in the two week time frame that I go to see her. I also use Nutri-Ox shampoo and conditioner every other day. Do not know if my hair is now out of the "resting phase" or not. I do see new growth all over but mainly at my temples. I am not selling the biotin or the shampoo and conditioner just sharing what I use. Some experience no change when using any supplement or shampoo's. Other's swear by their routine and what they use. Good Luck!!!! Deb
  22. Okay I have been on vacation since 8/30 and I GAINED 2.5 POUNDS!!!!!!!ARRRGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My fault so I have to take owner ship of this mess. Must have been the beers on the beach and the chips and salsa. Damn Coors light!!! LOL.... I am positive it will come off in a few days of not eating. Nothing is tasting any good. Don't want to upset my tummy anymore than it is. Sticking with the broth and a little yogurt. Well to top it off I have a cold/flu. I so feel like POO!!!!!!! Ate or should I say I drank some chicken broth. Then some chobani yogurt. Lets not forget the Thera-Flu and Ricola!!!!!YUMMY!!!!! Can't wait till I feel better. Went and bought the kettlebell set and got a few dvd's for the workout. I so want to try them soon!!!!!!!!!!! Deb.
  23. Yeah I am going to look into getting reconstructive on everything. (maybe not everything, already had a TT years ago.) I found this wonderful plastic surgeron in the same buliding as my PCP. He accepts my insurance and so with fingers crossed I will be scheduling an appointment for a consult on what he can do and then speak with the insurance department on their billing procedures. I would like to hopefully schedule a late spring date. I am so hoping to be super near goal. Deb.
  24. I have a sister in law question me about my choice to have wls last year. She pointed out that I could die from THIS TYPE of surgery. I responded , "really?" Wow, did you know that I could drop dead from a stroke if I don't do something? Yep she shut up rather quickly. And to top it off she has been complaining about her weight. And how having a tummy tuck to lose her weight would solve her problem. I too thought that by having a tummy tuck that would eliviate my weight troubles. Yeah not so much. The weight came back to my legs and hips, face. And then to my abdominal area. The procedure I had is what is called a lower body lift. I spent major bucks to have that done. The weight came back in a little over a year. I tried to tell her that would not "cure her obesity" but if she wanted to spend major bucks to find out on her own then more power to her. So to say the least I haven't seen her in almost a year. (Thanksgiving to be exact) So lets see what she says this year when we all get together, I can't wait. Deb
