  1. Yeaaaaaa!!!! I know you were too happy! I hope you reach your goal weight and rock that dress!!!!! Don't forget to post your pics on here so we all can see! Congrats!
  2. I'm sorry that you thought the band was like the other WLS. They should have explained that to you when you came in for your consult. I am at 7.3cc's and I am able to eat everything that I ate before I had the band. I make choices not to eat those things because I didn't have this surgery just to stay the same or re-gain what I have lost. I have never slimed, PB, or threw up anything in the 10.5 months of being banded. You may be lucky like me and not have any issues eating anything. For some people this is not luck but a curse because they want to have the ill effects of eating certain foods to keep them from eating them a second time. I don't ever want to feel sick! I'm glad that I don't have to get sick in order to lose weight. I can do it by simply following the rules (most of the time lol). If I want ice cream I get frozen yogurt. I am sure as time goes along you will find something that you can substitute your favorite foods for that's better for you. I am not sure what will take the place of a big mac though.... I hope you have success with your band!
  3. I drink all liquids the day of the fill and then the next day I have mushies all day. Third day back to my regular diet but I still try to keep it light just in case. I don't think you did anything to yourself. Your stomach may be a little irritated. I have a tough tummy but yours may be sensitive to having the band on period so next time take it easy for a few days and see if that helps.
  4. I really didn't believe that my weight loss would be this slow...I am on target with the 1 to 2lbs a week rate when my loss is averaged out since I've been banded. I am learning to be happy with that because I am learning new habits that will stick with me in the long run. I have never kept off any weight loss for this long and I am very proud of myself.
  5. I'm afraid of how I am going to look when I lose it all. I believe it's going to come off but I have never been a normal size adult so I have no idea what the real me look like. I was 12 years old the last time I was under 200 and my goal is 199. I have a long way to go to get there and I am starting to get excited the closer I get to the 200's!
  6. Have you tried eating canned tuna or other soft proteins like that so you can at least get something good in you? I love tuna! I am not a big meat eater so fish, eggs, and beans are usually my sources of protein. They all seem to go down pretty well too. Good luck!
  7. Yummy!!!!!!!!!!! The last time I went I got the talapia dinner and bacon potato soup. I ate all the soup and took most of my fish home but I nibbled at the top of that biscuit! It was so good! I didn't have any problems eating the top of it!
  8. When I was almost 400lbs I was in denial big time! I looked past all the fat when I looked in the mirror because I just didn't want to see it! When I looked at photos I was humiliated! Now, that I have lost a whole lot of inches and over 80lbs I see that 400lb person when I look in the mirror! Crazy! I just can't get those images from those photos out of my head! Every blue moon I see myself as I actually am but usually it's the bigger me I see.
  9. When you get to the mushy stage.....I bought boxes and boxes of Instant oatmeal and cream of wheat...they were perfect because it's already measured and you just have to add 1/2 cup of milk or your choice of liquid.
  10. I was allowed these on the 2nd full week after surgery and then it had to be very thin like soup.
  11. LOL! I am the same way about Jello now! Never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Well, how did your surgery go? I hope it went well for you! I'm sorry all I could think about was how bad the gas was? To be honest that is all I could remember!
  13. I will add that when you start eating solids again the weight loss will slow up a little bit too but stick with your small portions and it will start back again when your body get use to having solids again. Keep your head up!
  14. I hope everything goes smoothly for you in this process and congrats on getting that insurance! I worked at a job for over a year that I really didn't want because I knew they had a policy that would cover me! I needed the paycheck too but I was mostly after the benefits!
  15. If all medications came in liquid or solutab! That would be really helpful in this journey.
  16. I shared a little toooo much! I wish there was a delete button!
  17. If the Obamacare would have actually been in affect it would have actually helped you more than likely in your switch instead of hurting you:) Obesity might just be considered a pre-existing condition one day and could be denied without the new laws they want to put in place? I am not positive and that's why I said may. I guess lesson learned now you can rejoice and be a bander with the rest of us! Yea!!!!!
  18. Sorry, didn't want to make you cry! But, I cried at the last appointment I went to with my old doctor, lol! I was so ashamed! While, I was making my next appointment I was standing at the window with tears just falling down my face like a big old fat baby!!!!!!!! That's when I joined the gym and changed doctor's! NEVER again! I am glad you doctor is encouraging though.
  19. They waited until I had met all the requirements to send in all my paperwork and I received my approval from BCBS in less than a week and half. It may have been 10 days. It's easier if everything is well documented and plus I had records verifying being Super Obese since High School even though they only needed the last 5 years lol! Just in case...
  20. I think the first step would be to go back to the doctor to check to see if you need a fill. I know how it feels to go to the doctor and haven't lost a pound and you have to see the look of disappointment in the eyes. But, just take it as a grain of salt and get your fill. Go home thinking this is the last time I will ever go back to the doctor and feel this bad!
  21. Congrats on meeting your goal! I know it feels awesome!!!!!!!!!!! Well, I am still slow poking along but it's coming off and I am happy about that. I got a good fill in September and I finally started to lose again. I am 310 this morning so that's 50 down from my surgery date (avg. 5lbs a month). It's been 10 months and I am going to try to lose 15 more by my bandanniversary date.
  22. I would continue to take the Prevacid everyday and see if it helps. It comes in Solutabs if you have trouble swallowing pills. Good you stop drinking coffee or whatever caffeine it was because it makes the acid worse. I have acid refux and it can flare up without coming up in your thoat. There is no telling what is actually wrong with you but it really sounds like reflux. I have been getting sick so much since I got banded in February. I can take a little sickness though because I really really wants to lose this weight! Good luck.
  23. Now, you would have to remind us we are getting old! LOL! I never thought about the trauma to our body though....
  24. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!! I was just like you. I had surgery on 2.23.10 and didn't get a good fill until 9.16.10 and started to lose really well. I lost 10lbs in the month following that fill which is the most I have lost in a month since my liquids before surgery. So, being at a good fill really makes the difference for some of us! I got another small fill on 12.16 and lost 6 pounds within 2 weeks and I am so excited! I know you are just as excited!
