  1. First of all its normal to gain weight after surgery.. because you are on liquids which means probably high sodium content which leads to retain water. you are going to need to drink water (crystal light Fruit Punch is my best friend) because you are going to need to flush the salt out of your system. you will probably also stay the same when you transit to solid foods again..

    I am in Montgomery Area.
  3. I didn't have to stay in the hospital overnight. The doctor allowed me to decided what I wanted to do. However, I wasn't released until about 630pm. I was the first one in surgery.
  4. I am sorry for your lost. I am not going to lie to you.. This is a mental journey along with a physical journey.. However, the outcome overweighs eveything you can think of. You are getting your life back and you will be able to be here longer for your son. He is with you every day in your heart and memories.. I think that he would be very proud of you for doing this. It takes a lot of consideration and preparation in order to have this surgery.. Personally, I don't regret having this surgery because i have a life now.. I am preventing myself from having the health problems related to being overweight or obesed. I am making it to where my little girl doesn't have to grow up without her mother. you have to do this for you and you alone.. i wish you the best on your journey..
  5. If you can't even keep water down then you need to get an unfill... continue to throw up can cause you to slip
  6. you will need to change up your diet and exercise. you body can use to the same thing over and over again..
  7. My port is to the right of my belly button. No where near my sternum. I had surgery january 2011.
  8. its going to be difficult for the first few days.. suck on ice chips for water too.. i added crystal light to mine to get it flavor..
  9. isn't it wonderful. I am in the same boat as you.. my bmi was a 44 now its a 34.9
  10. Majority of the time guys have the larger band. However, if you are severly overweight and female they will put a 14 in. Each person gets restriction different..
  11. first all if you want to talk you need to go to the chat room.. this isn't the chat room.. you post questions in the forum section them people gradually answer.. i am from alabama. i have been banded for close to 8 months. i have lost 62 pounds.
  12. I don't think that anything is wrong for making them pay a certain amount.. because I would hate to know that they aren't really into it 100 percent.
  13. I changed the amount of calories. I don't like to go over 1200. I use it mainly to count calories. It helps because it has a lot of stuff programed in.
  14. I changed the amount of calories. I don't like to go over 1200. I use it mainly to count calories. It helps because it has a lot of stuff programed in.
  15. i didn't chose which band. my doctor made the decision of which size band to put in. I have the lapband 11cc if i remember correctly..
  16. It could be from several.things. not eating. Medication. Or the medicine they used to pit u asleep. Yes throwing up is bad for u. Get some motion sickness pills they will probably help or ask doctor for meds. Mine got worse when I rode or driver in a car.
  17. I was like that for ten days. I actually threw up. Anesthia is what did it for me. Stay away from car rides
  18. you need to watch your sodium intake many of those meals are very high in sodium.
  19. Congrats on finding the website.. I found this website prior to me having surgery.. I have beena member of this site for a year now.. I have only had my band for 7 months. I have learned a lot from the people in here.. I am currently at a stand still. I haven't lost any weight in three weeks.. i am not scheduled to see the surgeron until September 21, 2011.
  20. you might still have some gas in your back.
  21. Welcome ti the club Lauren. U will probably meet a lot of people who can relate to what u are going through.. im a lot older than you 11 years. I had the surgery seven months ago. I do have to say this the band alone wont make you lose weight. You are going to exercise and watch what you eat..
  22. i have five incisions.. two which are very little like size of a pen then i have two that is about 1/2 inch and then i have one thats about 1.5 inches.
  23. congrats on making the decision to have lapband surgery.. I don't regret the decision to have the surgery. I have been banded for seven months as of today to be exact.. I have lost 55 pounds.. I started in a size 22 currently in a 16 and some 14s. You will also realize that its going to take you longer to see the changes verses your family and friends.. I told everyone about my surgery howeever some people decide not to and keep it to themselves.. i found easier to tell them which means that they would be supportive.. if someone tells you that you are cheating tell them no you are'nt and its a tool because the band itself won't let you lose weight.. you still have to watch what you eat and exercise.. i will tell someone in a heart beat that.. You are going to need to get you some gas x strips the blue ones.. and a heating pad.. it works help with the gas pain.. which is horrible.. but once you get pass it you will be find.. make sure that you don't leave the hospital without a prescription for antinausea medication whether or not you need it its better to be safe than sorry.. I had issues about four days later when i got in the car for the first time.. I ended up getting car sick.. I wanted to die but that was seven months ago.. After surgery make yourself get up as soon as possible and WALK!!! Walking helsp with the gas pain also.. I also recommend you going grocery shopping prior to surgery.. you will need Jello, juice, Water, chicken broth or beef.. i got the one in the green box that you add water.. only one I could tolerate. i also got the smartwater because of the electrolytes.. i drank crystal light.. thats my new crack (instead of diet mt dews).. don't get discourage if you don't lose weight when you transist from liquids to mushies.. remember to walk.. I wasn't allowed to do anything but walk until i was 8 weeks post op.. thats also when i had my first feel each doctor is different.. you will learn that also..
  24. You could probably do the liqiluid.mucinex. I thankful haven't had to deal with a cold since being b
