Freezing!
First week I was freezing and our place was 82 F deg... I kept taking my temperature too, but no fever. Second week was much better.

Post-operative cramps?
Post 15 days here. Off and on muscular pain on the left lower quadrant, front and back, especially if I bend over. It feels similar to over working out my abs or someone taking a stick and poking me. If it gets bad, I may take a tablet of Hyocyamine (one of my surgeon's prescriptions, a muscle relaxer), and it helps.

Weight gain at week 4
This is a very common question so #1 you're not alone. Since it's impossible to gain 8 lbs of fat when taking in 700 cal/day, it's Water. Our bodies do incredible things during healing , it'll come back off, just be patient.

Slower weight loss second time around?
Post op 15 days today. Had my lap band since 2009 before my revision on Sept. 2, 2016. I'm 15 lbs down since I had my surgery. I average 597 cals, 60 carbs per day since the surgery. I talk a daily walk for 20 minutes. Super fast weight loss is almost always Water weight. People just don't lose 5 lbs of fat per day. The way I look at it, if I intake 600-800 cal a day, I'm going to lose weight at a good rate unless I'm retaining water for some reason. If I'm not losing, then I have to figure out why I'm retaining water. That's the way I look at it. Btw, the sleeve makes it easier to cut back on calories/carbs, way easier... I'm really happy with the switch. Really happy.

3 weeks out and still have a lump under one of my incisions
I'm 2 weeks post op today. I have some pain on my left side, not stabbing pain but it's a throbbing pain. Hyocyamine helps because it's a muscle relaxant. I had stopped it after the 3rd day but when I started taking it again, the pain subsided. I called and asked them about it, and they said the pain is normal especially if bending down, twisting... etc. and just keep track of my temperature because any sign of a fever, it may mean something serious. One of my incisions has a big lump under it too. Thanks for posting this because I wasn't sure if that was normal and it saved me a call to the office. I call way too much as it is. haha.

Weight regain 42%?
"As many as 50 percent of patients may regain a small amount of weight (approximately 5 percent) two years or more following their surgery. However, longitudinal studies find that most bariatric surgery patients maintain successful weight-loss long-term. Successful’ weight-loss is arbitrarily defined as weight-loss equal to or greater than 50 percent of excess body weight..." https://asmbs.org/patients/bariatric-surgery-misconceptions

Drinking liquids AFTER a protein shake
I was told that liquids and protein shakes go right through your sleeve (the latter, a little slower I'm sure), and the water rule does not apply in the liquid stage. I still practice it though. I had to do that for years with the band.

September 2016 Post VSG Updates
How hungry do you guys feel after 1 week of surgery? Is the hunger feeling totally gone? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App 14 days post op here. Head hunger not totally gone, but real hunger, pretty much. Sometimes it's hard to figure out the difference but when you go to the kitchen to eat something, you automatically think "Nah, I don't feel like that." I was told that for awhile, one may feel hungry at first because when you're swollen, it sometimes mimics hunger. There is a video on youtube that covers that. Also an acidic stomach mimics hunger as well, so I have to make sure I take my antacid twice daily no matter what. While I may "think" I'm hungry from time to time, staying between 600-800 cal/day is unbelievably easy at this stage. Hope this helps.

How do I know when I am full?
For me, if you ignore the feeling of the food giving a little pressure in the back of your throat and keep eating (my experience with the lap band). I'm 14 days post-op Sleeve but haven't slimed yet but I'm just in the full liquid stage still so I can't say, but I'm pretty sure it's similar. I was eating some Soup the other day, and felt the pressure in my throat so I stopped in a hurry. What was really weird was all the sudden I had a wash of sleepiness come over me. I had read another who said when she started to get full, she got sleepy suddenly too. lol. Weird, I know.

How long to schedule your surgery?
My surgeon said 6 to 8 weeks after all my pre op tests were completed, but it ended up to be 4 weeks after my last hoop. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Water bottle
Zojirushi 16 ounces. I love love love that thing. It keeps Water ice cold or hot for more than 24 hrs, it's adorable hehe and it fits in all cup holders. For a huge one, for longer trips, I bring my 64 oz Hydroflask growler. I use it to refill my zojirushi. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Lap Band Removal after 12 years. Conversion in Dec.
I had my lap band for 7 years and felt similar to you. I wrote about it in blog here just recently if you'd like to read it. I was mortified of having it unfilled and removed at first because it served me so well. I had my revision on Sept. 2, 2016. I was worried about the slower weight loss too but I am delighted with the speed I'm losing, especially because although I had gained some back due to being unfilled, I was still down the majority of my weight loss from my lap band. Think of it this way, if one eats 800 calories, and exercise a bit, they are going to lose weight, no way around that . I've lost six lbs a week in my first two weeks, total of 12 lbs. Sending you a *hug*. Hang in there and listen to your doctor. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Next step... sleep study. And totally scared.
I was so adamant about not being able to sleep with people watching that they okayed an at home study. I picked up the gear, and returned it the next day. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Stomach capacity
I was able to drink Water, Protein shakes with no issues from day 3. No pain, no gas, no restriction, nothing. 64 oz of water was & still is easy plus my Protein Shakes. When I asked my nurse if this was normal, I was told that is the way it's supposed to be, and that liquid will go right through, even pureed foods to some extent, and that the restriction will come at the soft and solid stage, and at that point, if one overeats, they will feel absolutely miserable.

After the warnings of everyone is different, I was fine working from home on the 4th day. The 2nd I slept, and 3rd day, still kind of groggy. I was outpatient and went home the same day, the afternoon of my surgery...

Eating or Drinking Your Nutrients?
Had the lap band for 7 years (successfully) and during that time my Breakfast was always liquid (I was always a little tighter in the mornings). I would put all my fruits & veggies in glass of homemade milk kefir with a scoop of unflavored Protein powder. lunch was also liquid, usually a big bowl of healthy Soup with lots of veggies, and it wasn't till dinner that I ate true solids. My favorite protein was always fish (usually sashimi), with ~1/4 c rice and medium salad. I ate a balanced diet. Just recently I had a sleeve revision so I will have to see how my diet changes as I am on the full liquid stage with Soups (14 days post). I'm content at this stage because as I noted above, I love soups .

I'm only 12 days post op, and was wondering for those of you who normally eat sashimi... How many pieces do you usually eat for a meal? Thanks!

Pickles
I was told that pickles are okay, in my soft stage that is coming up (as long as blenderized) to add flavor to my egg salad..etc.
