Genepro ideas?
They are saying their 10g of special protein is equivalent to 30g whey. I believe this says it best about Genepro: Long story short, they are selling lies. Most likely they are selling BCAA's and calling it protein. Do yourself a favor and buy a reputable protein brand. Gold Standard is good brand. There are so many manufacturers that lie on their labels, you almost have to look them up and see how many lawsuits they have against them before you buy! If their process was true, every other maker out there would be following suit because it is such a cutthroat business. The fact that most retail chains refuse to carry it is evidence of the company's reputation. Not going to get into a debate about chemistry. I do that enough at work, but the weight argument is actually moot. There are scientific and clinical studies that have shown that when whey protein isolate is consumed along with ProHydrolase, amino acid concentrations in the blood increase by 20%, compared to consuming whey protein alone. I believe Genepro mention this on their product page and about the bio-availability is comparable to 30g of protein. There are several protein products that are involved in class actions, and Genepro, despite all of its competitors complaining about them hasn't been sued for product misrepresentation so until then, I'll continue buying the product because my labs suggest that I am getting my protein (Albumin/Globulin/Total protein blood test). Just my two cents.

I'm a mess!
Hehe oh man, the pureed stage was like someone freeing me from a straitjacket. Just to have more choices helped me too. Glad you're feeling good . Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Feeling regretful
Lots of good wisdom already shared. I'm on post op day 28 and pretty much a newbie when it comes to the sleeve but I do want to share with you about something I experienced. I was constantly "hungry" for awhile which confused me till I researched why. On day 16 or 17, my hunger suddenly dropped off. It was when the swelling in my stomach went down. As someone already explained, a swollen/healing stomach plus the excess acid your stomach produces due to being downsized by 80% mimics hunger. Now I'm so much more comfortable "hunger" wise. Did I eat too much?
I don't think you are eating too much. Some can only eat a little but they have to eat more often, others can eat more at one sitting and be full longer. I'm post op day 27 and according to my program, I should be striving for a 2-4 oz a meal in one sitting, and of course, always hitting my Protein goal & 64 oz Water. If I can't eat that much, I'm not suppose to stress about it...etc. Now, if you can eat 8 oz in one sitting without feeling full at 2.5 wks, then I'd be .

Help
Enjoy the company , have your drink (ice tea or Water...etc) to sip on it while all of you hang out. They may not even notice since you'll be "drinking" at the same time. As far as food, I've found that most don't even notice if I barely touch my food. What they did notice was when I scarfed it in the past haha. Good luck, and just have fun. ^^

To eat or not to eat....
I felt hunger when my stomach was the most swollen and after all the pain killers wore off. On the 16th, 17th day of healing, it just dropped off. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

So, I make cakes for a living, can anyone relate?
Yikes, I don't think I could do that. hehe I'm not into sweets at all but pizza is another thing all together. I like it so much that I always make those low carb cauliflower pizzas. Lifesaver for my cravings.

Surgery in few hours.... nervous!
I'm excited for you. There were three big days for me: 1) The day my appeal was approved. 2) My very last hoop to clear for surgery and 3) surgery day. You'll do great, just deep breathe. It is definitely normal to feel nervous and/or anxiety before any surgery. *hugs*

Silly question
I'm a sleeve newbie although I read a lot to continue learning. I just saw a Dr. Alvarez video on this, and he said it'll eventually subside.

September Sleevers!
Just make sure you are drinking your 64oz+ water, and you should be fine . I had my revision to sleeve on Sept. 2, and I'm 26 lbs. down. I am a bit surprised because I've had the band since 2009 and expected a slower weight loss since it was a relatively successful band.

September Band to Sleeve
Yay. Congrats! I had my band in 2009 too. I went through something very similar. It worked and it helped so much but it was a pain to find and re-find my sweet spot, being unfilled due to being too tight, and being filled too much.. etc. I just had my revision to sleeve on Sept. 9, 2016. I love it.

Resturant Buddy
I love Red Lobster, I was there for lunch today. I'm on the soft food stage so this time I ordered the 4 oz blackened catfish with a cup of lobster bisque. I've been in the habit of telling them at the time of ordering, to box half and serve half. Restaurants are pretty good about that.

Can we please talk about Starvation Mode for a minute?
I've said it before, but I think the surgery changes everything, so we aren't the "norm". I truly believe it changes our physiology. Like @@JamieLogical said, I have observed differently after being on these boards for almost 2.5 years. I have also observed the opposite with myself. Every time I stalled, increasing my calories would break the stall, and I would actually start losing again more consistently. I was at 1100 by the time I hit maintenance, and now maintain on 1300 calories. Anything over 1300 I gain. First off, great topic. ^^ Since my lap band in 09 to sleeve revision, other than when I first got out of the hospital(s) (big stall first 10 days due to IV Water retention), I haven't experience stalls because like @@Babbs I increased my calories when I enter one. Now of course, if I fall off the wagon (lap band days) due to improper fill, I'd gain weight but when I'm on program, that's been my experience too. I know everybody is different, but this works for me. Since we're on the subject, I used to watch food contests videos and always wondered how the heck do they eat so much and stay skinny? grrr Almost all of them think like this: If anything, it's an interesting watch.

Dilemma
I'm in between the two other responses hehe. Both are solid advice. To me, IF you get unfilled again (sounds like you have to. I've been there a couple of times /cry) and you put on say 30-40 lbs, go for revision cause you have to let your esophagus and stomach take a 4-6 month break anyway before they do the revision. They won't do a revision when your stomach is abnormal. Once you get your revision, you'll take those 30-40 lbs off and keep it off since you already know how to work with your current WLS. However, I do understand the worry of going underweight. One thing more scary than being overweight is being underweight. I've seen a few that keeps losing, way past their goal. Frightening to me....

What do you wish someone had told you BEFORE your surgery?
1) That a swollen stomach, a healing stomach, excess acid in my stomach would mimic hunger feelings. I was so hungry the first week or so and wondered why, but at day 16 or so, my appetite dropped off. 2) That gallstones/gallbladder disease are very common after sleeve surgery. One study showed 23% of us... I just hope I don't have go under the knife again to remove my gallbladder. However, having said this, even if I knew these things, I'd do the sleeve all over again. Anyone eat hummus?
I love hummus. I recently found a great black bean hummus recipe, and it's yummy. I make little baked cheese crisps and dip them in it. Recipes: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/13930/black-bean-hummus/ http://www.joyfulabode.com/low-carb-snacks-homemade-baked-cheese-crisps-recipe/

Band to Sleeve Revision
Did u go through this? How do u feel. Are you able to eat? I'm so scared of hairloss too... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App No, I haven't but I have seen and talked to a lot of people who has gone through it. When I went to my check up at my bariatric center, I spoke to one girl who said she cried every day since her revision, poor thing . Yeah, I'm worried about hairloss too. I didn't go through it with my band because the weightloss wasn't as drastic, a normal 2-3 lbs a week or slower... So I'm a little worried this time around because our calories are sooo much lower.I have only loss 15 pounds in six weeks so my weightloss is not to drastic but they said it would happen because of the stomach hormones loss. Yea I cry alot and I don't know what to do to make it better. How far was the girl in the group post op? I don't know why this is so hard. Thanks for listening Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App No problem at all. Anytime. I didn't know about the hormones and hair, I only knew about the Vitamin deficiency and too fast weight loss by being anorexic when I was young. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App Neon anorexia?? Yea they say at 2 yrs a person with a sleeve should be able to get enough Vitamins through there food. Yea I try really hard with vitamins .. I even take extra Biotin for my hair 20,000 mcg a day plus b12 plus zinc.. zinc is a hair vitamin... but u have to be careful if u get to much u could get sick. I even bought nioxion shampoos to help with the loss. I am blonde and don't have tons of hair so who knows how much I will have.. they say it starts at 3 to 4 months. I myself am already shedding a little more than normal.. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App Neon was because my stupid autocorrect, which is never correct lol. I edited it... Hehe I'm on biotin too and you're right, too much is often not a good thing. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App I had bulimia for years.. I think I'm scared to because I want another baby and im worried how much this is all taking a toll on my body with my first son I had gestational diabetes and other things so I wanted to be healthy Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App I met a lot of bulemics at OA meetings back in the day. After my anorexia, I swapped seats on the titanic and gained 100 lbs. So I still value OA meetings online from time to time since I have a tendency to switch back and forth. Well, I think you did the right thing. Being overweight is just too risky for us. I'm happy that at least you don't have any serious issues with your sleeve. The risk factors are so low now since it's become a common surgery, thank goodness. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
