  1. Yep, us band to sleeve patients have it completely different. I haven't had any problems with eating or drinking anything, which disturbed me for months. I expected all the things I read on here - BIG mistake!! I don't have to chew a million times and I can chug Water just like before. Another thing, us revision patients lose SLOWLY as I found out only after surgery. My surgeon doesn't really have an explanation as to why this is, but he says it is indeed a fact. As far as the surgery itself and post op, I had quite a bit of pain because of my 2nd hiatal hernia repair. Sometimes I wonder what goes on inside of me, lol. Wish you well! Hope you have a little quicker weight loss than I am having. But it's still better than before Thank you for replying, and for the useful information, Susan!
  2. Yeah, I was told to take them when I get home. I started the b12, Calcium, vit D plus that multivitamin daily patch.
  3. Yeah, I agree but I make my protein too easily but it's because my recovery has been much easier than most so point taken. I do put 30g of protein in everything, including my cream of wheat. Thanks!
  4. Seven days post op, then each daily so far.
  5. Since it's a liquid diet, I was told to have a meal every couple of hours. I begin when I first wake up with a half of a Protein shake. After a couple of hours, I will have some Miso Soup. I like the organic Red miso soup from Amazon with a tablespoon of GENEPRO Protein powder. I like Genepro protein powder because it mixes in hot and cold easily. I'm not too concerned about salt since we are low carb during this time period and low carb diets require more sodium. I go back and forth between the soup and the Protein Shake, changing the type of soup if I get tired of Miso. For example, strained fat free cream Soups like Cream of chicken, mushroom...etc. Yesterday I had a little bit of stage 2 baby food (Beechnut: Just apples & kiwi), it was really good and went down smoothly. Oh, and watered down Cream of wheat is really good at this stage too. Hope this helps.
  6. I wish you luck. I hope you can get your approval and get your health back! *hugs*
  7. Definitely Water gain. I am experiencing it too. /cry Impossible to gain that kind of weight on only 800 calories a day.
  8. I had mine for seven years without any real issues. I loved my band. Lost over a hundred lbs. and kept it off until the unfill for the sleeve surgery. My doctor suggested the revision to the sleeve because I had a dilated pouch for the second time. I could have just removed half the liquid and let my stomach rest for 3 months but I opted for the sleeve instead since my insurance covered the revision. I could've easily went the rest of my life with the band. The main thing is don't go too tight like I did. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  9. It took me quite a few visits to find my sweet spot where I could go 3 to 4 hrs between meals before getting hungry. You're doing great . Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  10. Had the band for many years. Getting stuck is probably the most uncomfortable feeling you'll ever feel, other than sliming... Most of the time the two go together. What I felt was serious pressure in my upper chest, and I could barely speak because the pressure in my esophagus. I can't remember what I was eating when I first got stuck. I'm going to guess something with bread. After I got real restriction, I stopped bread completely. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  11. I had that the first few days. I also had some thick phlegm that I had to work hard it get it out. I thought it was hella strange too since I wasn't sick at all. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  12. My plan says I have to be on full liquids for 3 weeks, so I know I couldn't. I love sardines too. If your plan says pureed foods on the 2nd week, maybe it would be okay if you pureed them. I would call your doctor to be safe. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  13. I relate. I was unfilled to prepare for a band to sleeve revision. I tried to shake this mentality but failed lol. I put on 20+ lbs in a matter of 5 months. I felt so out of control that when it was time for my Pre-op diet, I felt relieved to end the madness. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  14. Omgosh, I didn't mean you at all. I'm so sorry that you took it that way. I meant the doctor, not you. I also responded after I refreshed the thread and saw you put some more facts (i.e. it's an insurance issue).
  15. Other than the first day, my recovery has been easy. I could drink 64 oz water/day without any pain or problems, my Protein shakes, Soups go down with no problems. I'm on day 8. I feel almost like I didn't have surgery. I was wondering if my recovery is much easier than others because I had the band for many years (since 2009). If you had the band to sleeve revision, was your recovery easy or difficult? Thanks in advance!
  16. Ah, nice post. Thank you for checking up on us! hehe I'm feeling good. I was sleeved on the 2nd so I'm on day 8. I checked in at 5 am, surgery at 7 and released at 4 pm, band to sleeve revision done as outpatient. The first day was really hard, I felt dizzy and weak, incision pain...etc. Day 2, I mainly slept all day, and after that it's been great. I almost feel like I didn't have the surgery (except for the soreness of the incisions). I have no issues drinking Water, I feel like I could gulp it but I don't. My Protein shakes are going down smoothly, although at first I didn't have much of an appetite, averaging ~464 cal/day. I drank 64 oz+ water today with no issues. The first 2-3 days I took the pain and nausea meds because I'm prone to motion sickness so luckily I never felt nauseous. I lived on Gas-X strips to relieve that darn gas pain. Now I'm just taking my antacid twice a day. Again, ty for your post and checking up on us!
  17. Yeah, I think you're right. There isn't any difference from the research I did concerning the inverted technique. Almost all sleeves are done this way now. Just a marketing thingymajig, I guess hehe. I had my sleeve done by Dr. Holden on Sept. 2, 2016, but I remember months ago doing the research on the "inverted" technique.
  18. Eight days out and am averaging 484 calories/day. Before that I had the lap band for ~7 years and averaged about 1400 cal/day, lost ~129 lbs (before my unfill to prepare for sleeve).
  19. Ah, just refresh and saw this. It's an insurance problem. Perhaps your doctor can list any health problems that you are having to convince them? That's what my doctor did after they refused.
  20. Sounds crooked to me... Sorry. If you're underweight naturally, I don't understand the need to have WLS. Are we missing some facts?
  21. A really good one is GENEPRO. It mixes in both hot and cold. One tablespoon = 30g of protein. It's a medical grade protein separated by electrophoresis (and perhaps some column chromatography). Sorry if I"m being a nerd, I'm a chemist lol. Anyway, the stuff is awesome.
  22. A week before surgery I had these prescriptions to fill for when I returned home: hydrocodon acetamin (pain), famotidine (antacid), ondansetron (nausea), and hyoscyamine (muscle relaxer). All optional except the antacid. Having said that, I found my own otc Gas X, maximum strength strips my life saver One liquid, two small pills, and one orally disintegrating. No crushing necessary. 23. Unfortunately no, lots of factors: Age, genes (skin elasticity), diet, exercise... Etc. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  24. I got the lap band in 2009, and was successful in that I lost 129 lbs with it within the 18 mo. time frame and kept the majority of it off for many years. In April of this year, I felt I better go in and get a check-up to make sure everything is in order because I felt like I was hungry more often. The new doctor felt it was time for me to do a sleeve revision, told me that I have a dilated pouch. I had that once before years ago, and had to go 3 months with only half my Fluid to let my esophagus "rest". I dreaded to be unfilled again because I always gained some weight back, and I had to work twice as hard to get it off again. I couldn't talk them into not unfilling me hehe, so I said I'll go for the revision. I had my revision on Sept. 2, 2016, and am thrilled at the way I feel. No slimming, no painful pressure in the center of my chest... All those things one gets used to having the band all those years. I love it, and although I'm hungry during the liquid phase, it's not that bad at all. Lost 11 lbs in the last couple of weeks but I am prepared for the slower pace. As long as I'm losing, I'm happy with that. Good luck all, and hope you are as happy (or will be as happy) as I am with my new sleeve.
  25. Told only my mom about my lap band back in 2009 and the recent revision to sleeve, but I'm private by nature. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
