Can I be completely honest?
I had a cath, and it was in for a good day afterwards. In the first 24 hours they gave me 3 bags of antibiotics and I went through a bag of saline every 8 hours so I was thankful that I had one in so I didn't have to get up all the time to go. But a few hours prior to me leaving they did take it out and measured how much I could go on my own so it was all a piece of cake! Good luck and you will do great! Just let the doctor know that you tend to get UTI so if they put in a cath then to give you antibiotics afterwards.

Aetna 3 Months Question
Yep I have Aetna, and did the 3 month requirement. My visits weren't exactly 30 days apart but I did have to make sure that my 4th and last visit was exactly 90 days from my first one. I hear Aetna is a stickler on that. But once all my paperwork was submitted I was approved in no time - well I take that back, I was approved within 24 hours once they found my paperwork that they lost lol.... Good luck!!!!!

Muscle Milk
Anyone in the Dallas area like Muscle Milk??? I bought a 4 pack of it at GNC and after I opened the first one I found that it's not right for me. I can't return the rest since my hubby threw out the receipt so instead of throwing them away, is there anyone out there that likes Muscle Milk that wants these. Thanks - Tiffany

what can I tell my nosey boss?
Oh WOW, I can't believe your boss actually announced you were having surgery! How unprofessional and rude on his part. He should have respected you and not said anything!!!!! I totally see how you don't want to tell him what you are having done especially since he pulled something like that!! I would just say that you were having surgery and that you need two weeks off. When he asks what you are having done you just say you would rather not say. He should respect your wishes and just put your foot down. I wouldn't make up a lie and tell him something that your not comfortable with, I just wouldn't say anything. I'm sorry your having to deal with this.

Question on amount of liquid consumed
are you saying 4 oz at a time? I was sleeved on Dec. 27th and my doc doesn't want me going over 1 oz (30 ml) every 10 minutes. He gave me a whole lot of medicine cups that measure out to that so I can make sure I don't go over. Hope this helps Tiffany

How long until I understand my new Stomach
Congrats on your new sleeve! I was sleeved on the 27th of Dec. so I am now on the "full liquid" stage. My doctor wanted me to make sure that I don't go over the amount of fluid I drink at a time and gave me a bunch of medicine cups to drink from. Each medicine cup is 30 ml or 1 oz and I have one of those over a 10 minute period. I even set a timer on my phone to remind myself to drink.

I looked at Walmart yesterday and they had the regular but not the sugar free. This afternoon I went to Albertsons and they had the sugar free chocolate.

Pain when sipping......
Okay for all you post sleevers I need to know if any of you have experienced this. I was sleeved this past Monday, and I have totally been following my doctors instructions and not gone over the amount of Fluid I can have but starting yesterday when I am sitting down and take a sip of Water or anything about 5 seconds later i feel pain in my stomach and across the middle of my back that lasts a couple of seconds. I called my doctors office and they don't think i have a leak since I am not running a fever nor do I feel consistent pain but has anyone experienced this before??? Thanks - Tiffany

2+ months and -36lbs
You look amazing, congrats on the weight loss and thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!

Okay so I have a question.... how the heck am I suppose....
I was sleeved on Monday and I know I am suppose to get in between 40-60 grams of Protein and between 48-64 oz of Water. But how in the world do I do that when I can only drink 30 ml every 10-15 minutes????? I found that the Super whey Protein bulletins (which are 26g of protein) taste good so between that and other protein supplements I get a good 35g of protein but still this no where near the 48 oz of water. I feel like I sip all the time and still I don't see how I can get all my fluids in. Anyone else having the same problem??? Thanks for any advice. - Tiffany

Girls only!!!
I use to have the darnedest times with birth control pills. Nothing would regulate my period. But once I had my second kid, my gyno suggested I get a IUD put in and I can't say enough good things about it! I haven't had a period in 17 months!!!!! And this past Monday I was sleeved and my gyno came in and tied my tubes but since I have had such great success with the IUD she left it in!

Tomorrow is my day too!!!
I'm sleeved!!!!! yay! Everything went beautifully, when i woke up in recovery I did do a bit of dry heaving .... which wasn't the greatest thing to experience but boy the pain meds are fantastic!!! The doc kept telling me that my liver was tiny and he was so happy that I followed my liquid diet to a T. So all day today I have been waiting around with my hubby to see if I get to go home and what happens, about 30 minutes after my hubby left, the doc shows up and says that I could go if I wanted to. There is no leak and all my spots on my belly are doing well. The pain that I am experiencing is the cut on my belly button, right shoulder pain and there is pain that happens between my shoulder blades. The pain meds work really good and it's funny I can time when the pain between my shoulder blades come back, 6 hours to be exact. Weird huh. So I am staying here one more night then I am out of here around 10 in the morning. I am soooo proud of myself, I am officially on the losers bench and I did this for me and I can't be more thrilled. 2011 is going to be one amazing year!!! Nothing is going to hold me back! - Tiffany

Tomorrow is my day too!!!

Tomorrow is my day too!!!
Tomorrow is my day and I'm so excited but I'm so emotional. I can't stop tearing up. I have an amazing support group who is behind me 100% and this week has been really really hard not being able to eat, but hey I have already lost 11 lbs!!!!!!! I am looking ahead at things to come and living a happy active lifestyle with my kids. I'm to be at the hospital at 6:45 and my first surgery starts at 8 (tubal ligation) and my sleeve is scheduled for 8:15!!!! Wish me luck!!! - Tiffany

Oh my non-thinking husband!!!!!!
So I started my liquid diet this past Monday and so far it's been okay, though I have been getting hunger headaches at night which are annoying but with a little bit of Tylenol it definitely helps!!! Sooooo I am the chef around the house, my husband hates to cook. so lets just say we typically get to-go on the days i just don't feel like cooking. Well since I really can't eat anything other than jello, chicken broth and the occasional protein shake, I don't really want to cook a full meal and not be able to eat any part of it. So what does my husband do.... he orders my favorite pizza and gets bread sticks, totally not thinking I can't eat and once he told me that he ordered it and realization hit..... then he told me that he was sorry about 10 times!!!!! lol when it got here, my mouth immediately started to water... and so what did i do? ... i curled up in the corner chair and savered my yummy raspberry fat free jello....and tried not think about it.... and i won, i proved to myself that i can go without having a slice of pizza or even a taste of the yummy bread sticks!!!! i even packed it all away when they were done with it! oh my wonderful not thinking husband!!!!!! lol

Aetna approvers on vacation late December?
OMG I know exactly how you feel!!!! At the beginning of last week all my stuff was faxed to Aetna for approval.... hadn't heard anything by Friday so I called them. Long story short, they lost my clinicals and my file was on hold, they eventually found them but totally put a crunch on everything because i'm suppose to get my sleeve done this coming Monday!!!! They approved me this past Monday, so at least once they got everything they needed it was quick, but it was so stressful because they say very little on the phone and kept telling me that it can take up to 15 days. hope you get approved soon!!!! best of luck to you!!!!!

Insurance Approval!!!! Pre-op Tomorrow

3 Month Multidisciplinary???
Hi Movetolose, I'm so sorry to hear that they lied to you. I too have Aetna and found that they are very strict on their policy and wants it followed to a T in order to be approved. In case you don't have it, go to this link: http://www.aetna.com/cpb/medical/data/100_199/0157.html It goes over everything Aetna needs. I just finished the 90 day preparatory regimen, and before I started I too was confused on who to go to, but on my first visit with my gastric doctor their insurance coordinator gave me a list of nutritionists I could go see who are doctor supervised and would go towards my 90 days. Also something that I was told is that make sure your last nutritionist visit is 90 days from your first one, if it is under 90 days I was told Aetna won't approve, kinda silly if you ask me. I hope this helps! and good luck!!!

So rude
Tat2Swan - lol priceless!!!! Yeah I am in the same boat, some of my co-workers who have found out and think it's wonderful that I am taking charge of my life. The others are like, why would you do that to your body. And the funny thing is that the ones who are against it are the ones who are over weight themselves. So I think to myself that if they are complaining then they are jealous that I am taking control of my life and doing something for myself that in the long run will greatly benefit me. So let them talk all they want. When I drop all my weight and look sexy as hell they will be the ones who wish they could have had the same surgery too!!!
