FinallyFree0812 got a reaction from kll724 in Unfill HELL!!! Help please
My band was too tight back in November and I had started gaining my weight back due to not following the rules and being too tight. My lowest weight was 154. He took out 1 cc and it felt as if I could eat anything. I started gaining FAST!!!! He then felt like we needed to take all the Fluid out and start over. Right now, I only have 2 1/2 cc's in the band and I am still gaining. It's a very slippery slope. Once you screw up, it's so easy for it to get worse. I cleaned out my closet of all my size 10 and 12's today. That motivated me. I'm going to try to start walking at least 2 miles a day and following the rules to the letter. My weight today: 192. Very disappointed in myself!

So now I am 7 days post unfill and have gained 18lbs... The Doctor I saw Dr Dasher has a fill clinic 1 x a month and it is this Monday but the clinic is full so they won't see me for 1 more month. Told me to police myself. I am and am still gaining every day. Called the only other Dr in Greensboro and they could not see me until July 17th. Finally found Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston Salem and they are going to see me tomorrow. Please tell me I am not wrong to want this taken care of immediately.Elaine

Just remember, the band is not going to MAKE you lose weight. It is there to help. I would cut out all bread and walk at least a mile every evening. Are you drinking sugary drinks?

Do you really want my honest opinion? I'd be looking for a new doctor.
That is complete and total BS. Go on mushy food for 2 weeks??? Because being Vitamin deficient is a good way to lose weight? ((eye roll))
I'm no doctor nor am I a medical professional, but I'd be finding a new doctor ASAP. Sorry for my bluntness but yours sounds like an ignorant idiot.

Your Dr. sounds like he is really paying very close attention to your case and situation. I think you should follow his advice and see what happens. What he is saying makes sense to me.

You are down 7 lbs in 3 weeks. That is with no fill. Lap Band documentation says 1-2 pounts per week once you get proper restriction. You are right on track. The 1st 6 weeks are for healing, not for losing, really.
Follow your rules, get better, get your fills, keep up the good work, you are doing great.

You should still be swollen, and you probably have gas still. Just relax. Only take very small sips, very slowly.

I don't know for sure, but I think you can place all the negative bandsters into this old wise saying. The definition to insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome each time.
    Just my 2 cents

I eat most of what I ate before the band. Some things literally won't go past the band anymore. I have been banded for 14 months and am now 160 lbs. I can't eat roast, bread, steak, hot dog weiners and possibly some other items I'm forgetting. But I was able to eat a lot of those things through the first few fills. I am very tight now. You will have much better results if you don't eat everything you ate before, but I have never been a fan of "the right kind of foods". I consider myself successful and so does my Dr, but it is all trial and error. Some of my banded friends still eat bread. It varies depending on the person. Good luck with your journey.

My dr says no carbonated drinks either, but he says it because it will make your stomach stretch and cause the band to slip. I'm started to feel like there really isn't any scientific proof to the whole carbonated thing because so many dr's say different things; however, I don't plan on going back to them just because I have been able to quit them, so why go back.
I have a questions about it causing band erosion and I'm asking this because I honestly don't understand...or maybe I just don't understand fully how my band works...but anyway...If the band is on the outside of the stomach, then how does acid from carbonated beverages, which is on the inside of the stomach, affect it.
