  1. Teachlady thanks for the nutrionist info. Right now I am focusing on protein and fluids. I think the rest will come with time. To all you excercising...Congratulations and great job. I have no doubt you will find yourselves fit and healthy and strong sooner than later. Personal trainer? THAT is dedication. To commit for a year is awesome. Jenn the amount you are consuming sounds like where I was at a few weeks ago. I went to my favorite fish place last night and ate 9 pieces of Gulf shrimp which surprised me. Mind you they were Gulf so they were small but still. Sometimes I get scared I'll go back to eating more like every diet I've ever been on. Like a nightmare. Violets you have a wonderful day. Mal, sending a hello to you. Michelle, hope all is well with you.
  2. I had some minor port pain that was stabbing but it happened mostly when I laid on my left side a lot ( a lot being I slept on it and reclined on it ). I wasn't quite beyond a week of surgery when this happened. Once I switched sides for a few nights and consciously avoided my left side, the pain eased up.
  3. Tina I'm only sorry I didn't get to post here when you were closer to your post surgery days. The patch that is used for nausea during transportation helped tremendously as I too was nauseated. I'm glad you are doing well. You sound great!
  4. Her job is to make him money. So call the office and ask the doctor to call you back. Don't tell them anything other than you would like to speak to the anesthesologist. These folks that run the offices can be NOSEY. Negotiate the bill with him. He can do the math and that you 'ran over' is proven how? I ran over by two hours and my bill was the same. Anywho.................................................... <TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=6 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=alt2 style="BORDER-RIGHT: 1px inset; BORDER-TOP: 1px inset; BORDER-LEFT: 1px inset; BORDER-BOTTOM: 1px inset">Originally Posted by mdrai Now that I'm back on track for the band, a few questions based on my surgical pre-op yesterday... Did anyone else have this done as an outpatient? That's how mine will be done. Oh, and he doesn't do a barium swallow either... said he used to do them but found they're not necessary??? Did anyone else have to give themselves Lovenox or Heparin injections 2x/day for 2 weeks after the procedure? (This came as a BIG surprise to me, as I have never read of ANYONE mentioning this before... and I am SO NOT a fan of needles! Yikes!) I think those are the only things I was unsure/unaware of... he seemed impressed w/all my other knowledge, and I told him I had a great support team online who're one month ahead of me! </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> To answer this, No. No shots. I did take ten days of antibiotics which surprised me but I was glad he put me on it as I had a bit of respitory problems. All resolved. ............................................................................. Violets Peace and steady pace to all. I am soooooo tired today. Three days in a row working and will surely make the whole week. Three weeks post op coming up on 30 pounds. This week, focusing on : Staying on protein, Staying hydrated with propel, Listening to the growls and sounds of my stomach Listening to my head when it says food.
  5. The smell of smoke. Anyone here have close friends who are musicians? Yeah. I would LOVE to go out and support my pals but to tell you the truth the stench of the bars send me to the moon. It would be the same as if someone could fart and had a farting PERMITTED rule in their establishment.
  6. I understand what you are trying to say here but removing fat people from society would not be a reasonable nor realistic means to an end. This is how I look at clean air acts. If a person chooses to light up, it truly is their choice like it is mine to eat Krispy Kreme donut with the creamy white filling. The problem with the logic that "it's only harming them" is that it doesn't just harm the person smoking. Children who grow up in a home where someone smokes have a greater risk for a respitory disease. People who do not smoke but live with a smoker die sooner. "Even for those who have never used tobacco, regular exposure to secondhand smoke in the home can have an impact on mortality, according to study results published through the British Medical Journal's Online First Internet feature." http://www.ada.org/prof/resources/pubs/adanews/adanewsarticle.asp?articleid=814 This article is from 2004, there are so many articles to support this. So for this effort, a person truly cannot say that it only effects THEM if they smoke. The smoke permeates the enivoronment and contacts others in that environment with negative effects.
  7. I can recommend brands of things that taste good. Cozy Shack chocolate pudding tastes as rich as a brownie. No Fat. Carryout Soups seem better than canned. I love french onion soup minus the cheese and bread. Mango juice is really good chilled and mixed with Krystle Lite peach tea. Focus on staying hydrated right now. Good luck.
  8. YUP, that would be me.What I eat now compared to what I would be eating...holy cow. No wonder I've lost 25 pounds. I get onto myself for having a 70 calorie Gerber cereal bar and five of them all day but I remember not just a month ago that whole box would have been gone in under an hour.
  9. Michelle that is a decent loss. Better down than UP! Tracy you look great. I love that little photo meter you have running. Lauraj congrats on getting off the 311-314 and hitting a milestone. That always feels so good. Jane I drink Propel water and it is vitamin enriched. Has Calcium, Niacin, B6,and B12. Strawberry Kiwi is my favorite flavor. The Gerber Graduates are working fine for me. Baby food for toddlers. One of the toddler meals is filling. I find myself hungry at times and today seems to be a day when I am really hungry. I think it goes back to protein working best for me. I had Gerber Graduate cereal bars (about the size of a Twix) with 70 calories. They did not stick to my ribs at all. I won't buy those again has throughout the day I ate five. That would be 350 calories and hardly any protein. No wonder I am hungry.
  10. Karen my best to you. Whatever your outcome I wish it to be healthy and also wellness to your husband.
  11. I didn't want to assume I would get no infection from my sites so I use Hibiclens Antiseptic skin cleanser and keep my wounds covered with the square and clear bandages.
  12. It says a lot about you Laurend that you would go public and apologize like that. A bold person and humbled as well. The rep. option is something I think should be removed anyway. I'm glad it was decided to remove it. I Admin. another Vbulletin website and the rep. comments are a pain in the butt. People actually track their number like counting signatures in their high school yearbook. It's tough enough to moderate threads that are serious and then someone goes and reports a negative rep. "I didn't deserve this". Be proud that you are mature enough and strong enough in yourself that you did this on your end. ( I would pos. rep you for it if I could)
  13. I was banded April 17. I had a breezy recovery in Parker, CO, flew home and all was good. Starting about the time I tried to go back to work (that's telling) I started getting swelling. This morning I am nauseated as so for some days. I get a "muffin top" that goes down with fasting and REST. I've lost 25 pounds.
  14. ACK! This was funny but squid? ACK!:guess My mother and father were both southern born and bred. They had catfish fries where everyone and their third cousin came to our house. The smell of catfish cooking drove me to my room where I burned cherry incense. ......................................................................................... Alexandra I wish you the best. Keep on doing whatever you need to do. What fits one may not fit the other. ..............

I love original artists. How are you feeling? Everything going okay?
  16. That would be the code of silence. It happens. It doesn't make it right but it happens. Brenda that movie sounds like a good one. I just finished reading Lee and Bob Woodruff's book "In An Instant". Fairly good read. I believe the reason for security would be advantage. You wouldn't call your hand out in a card game.
  17. I agree. There were physical and most like genetic factors that got us here but I think psychologically, it's an uphill battle to break old habits.
  18. My doctor told me you won't stretch your pouch on liquids. Now I'm sure that went hand in hand with not drinking a gallon of Water in an hour. I LOVE the AdvantEDGE drinks. I survived on the chocolate shakes on my preop diet and starting the fourth day after surgery. I like that they are less milky and more watery. chilled they are delicious.
  19. You can see by my BMI I'm a big gal. Out patient still had me under the care of the same doctors I would have had if I was staying in the hospital. I had to pass the same mile markers before I was released. Safer, yes. Pretty much all the publications agree upon that. Good luck.
  20. Thanks for sharing that Vanessa. Glad everything is working out for you and congratulations on your new little girl!
  21. I pick up my clothes at a variety of stores because the outfits they have at some of the plus stores look like.... how can I say this nicely?.... How 'bout that Jacklyn Smith KMart look?!! I've never been a polyester girl.
  22. Don't get me started on Lane Bryant. I paid off my credit card and that is that. Catherines is also of the same company but their fabrics are better, selection is better and I think the staff seems to be not too huffy. LB's selection has gone down but they have killer play pretties for bedtime. Fashion Bug is also of the same company. They do shady sales. You have to read the print on the flier and on the signs. I've seen THE SAME PANTS but because the vendor tags were one season off, the sale didn't apply to the size that fit me but applied to the pair I had tried on that didn't fit.
  23. I did. (I'll add more because the above was too short to post)
  24. GREAT to hear from you! Congratulations. Happy healing.
  25. Not that I need to know this but HOW would someone physically endure this? I think it would make me sick, physically sick.
