  1. A 5 oz. steak? Ouch. That is all I can think.
  2. Thanks Bubble. This helps. I'm home, resting and on Water. I'm actually hungry. I could probably get by with mushy sweet potatoes from Boston Market which went down perfectly. The warmth of them felt good. Honestly, that episode really freaked me out. I like what you said about "not now" to remove that sense of denial I am sometimes feeling. That is always a domino for diet failure for me. But the turkey hack really scared me. I knew instantly my stomach was not ready for it when I started yacking like that. It was like an out of body experience to see my body reacting in a way I'd never seen before. Wheetsin I don't plan on going near turkey for a long time.
  3. I'll jump in on this one. My future son-in-law is a lifer soldier in the Army. As we plan the wedding, we also are becoming acclimated to his JOB I find myself wanting to begin gushing about what a wonderful boy he is and how thrilled I am he will be my son in law because he is so honorable and loyal and serious both personally and professionally. He is very cautious to talk about what he does for the Army. When he and my daughter realized they were serious and marriage was the direction they were going in, WE as a family were told by him that some of the things he does is confidential what he called classified. The best way I can describe what I do professionally is to paralell it to counseling. What you share in the clinic does not leave the office unless it is with like professionals for the purpose of professional concern. So when he started talking about confidential, I got that. In a medical setting you can understand why things are confidential. People have a right to privacy. Now change the right to privacy to protection. Their job is to protect our country. It is natural to want to talk about what you or rant or Blog your day but if your job is security, how secure do you keep things when you blog about it in an open forum like the web? Anyone can read this. Remember the old saying "Loose lips sink ships" back in the WWII era. It still applies. Wheetsin you made a good point about work and our computers and how they are used. They are the company's. What is on them is the company's. My take on this can be narrowed down to the fact that at the source is your job, your job is to remain tightlipped about what you do, where you are with no specifics. Does that change when you leave work? No. The ethic is still there. Is it still breaking the law if you run a stop sign in the middle of no where with no oncoming traffic and no one sees you do it? Yes. The law is still in place.
  4. Ovaries of steel. I love strong women. It's a beautiful thing. You sound so together.
  5. Excellent post! Nature or nurture? Good thoughts.
  6. THANKS! That makes so much sense since the other dog is older and tends to get the best scraps, lots of love (not that Buck isn't gushed over..he's a Lab afterall!) I appreciate the reasoning. Dogs are awesome.
  7. Susansilver may the force be with you!
  8. Isn't this awesome?!!! OMG, I commuted to college. I can remember leaving here at 6 ish and driving through rush hour traffic to make an 8 AM class. TV courses are such a dream come true not to mention online courses. My son checked his grades yesterday, he was on academic probation...hey, he's allowed one....and this semester he had a 3.0 combined. He logged in to see his grades and there was no paper involved. I'm definately taking a class either second session of summer term or the fall. Learning is so exciting to me. **and props to you Laurend for researching and writing not just writing** Knowledge is power.
  9. I couldn't agree more!:clap2:
  10. Congratulations. I dream of having this done. My belly swings.
  11. First, YAY on getting approved!!!:clap2: My daughter procrastinates like this. She always ends up wigging out and power studying at the 11th hour. Live and learn I guess. 100 not bad!
  12. YAYAYAYA!!!!!!!!!! What a victory for you. Way to go!
  13. Yeah. My daughter's BF is Mormon. The boys go on a mission kind of experience when they are 15 and are called "Elders" at the church. No soda pop or caffiene. ................................................. Warren Jeffs is doing his own thing. He can call himself whatever he choses but he's a criminial. ............................................................ Proxy baptisms seem about as effective as proxy "I'm sorry's." ....................................................................................... I'm not making fun of the LDS and hold them in great respect for one thing...family. They are very pro family. Very pro couples. The church here has many activities, socials and so forth to build friendships. And just like Fallwell doesn't represent many Christians, I think there are many folks out there who profess to be whatever affiliated with a well known group but do a poor job representing it.
  14. >>I thought if I chewed it to paste I would be fine. Guess who was wrong? I won't be doing turkey again for some time. I had my mushy sweet potatoes and cheese and that went down fine. Wheetsin:It's not a PB if you make yourself sick, is it? And FWIW, I've *never* had a PB do anything like that. Were you able to breathe throughout the entire thing? Any pain to speak of? Did anything come up? >>yeah, turkey, slimey turkey bits. But I was fine after that. Pain while I was doing the cat hack thing, yeah. I could breath but it felt like my stomach couldn't as in expanding and contracting my diaphram was not an option. Wasabubblebutt: Wow... sounds *really* early to be eating turkey. You likely still have swelling. Be sure to go back to liquids for a day or two to relieve the additional swelling. >>I think I pushed it. I have been swollen, like a MUFFIN TOP? Tender and I think it's because I tried to do too much too soon. I got really sick yesterday. Not just last night but during the afternoon.
  15. Courtney Love's crash diet Courtney Love has lost an incredible 45 pounds in just four months. The former Hole singer showed off her new svelte figure in a tiny string bikini when she took a dip in the pool at Hawaiian holiday resort Kea Lani this week. A source told Us Weekly magazine: "She starting losing weight in December when she began drinking diet shakes and sticking to a strict healthy eating regime. "She has cut out carbs and is eating fish, steamed vegetables and doing lots of yoga. "She's feeling like a different person. Her goal is to lose 55 pounds altogether."
  16. I love Courtney. I love what she said about the music industry. I loved her transformation in The People vs. Larry Flynt. Anyway! In Hollywood it is suppose to be all natural these things you do to make yourself stunning. But everyone knows about veneers, botox, peels, plastic surgery and all the other stuff. You know if she came out she had it done there would be all these questions and then she'd clumped with Carnie Wilson. I don't think she wants that for her image. Celebrities barely have any privacy anyway so who can blame her for denying it. She looks hot though. Seen any late photos of her? Francis Bean looks SO much like Kurt.
  17. I think so. I bought surgical tape to place over it and that scar cream. That helped and it's only been one day. Thanks for replying. Now I don't feel so paranoid.
  18. THAT was a PB? Oh gads. I think the turkey was too dry and also that I ate the third bite too quickly. Thanks so much. I feel educated now.
  19. I do not know what I experienced tonight with turkey. Turkey breast slices, small bites, long chews, nothing to drink it down. I was fairly hungry having only had one half of a shake today. After I took a few more bites, I swallowed and suddenly had a burst of hiccups. Have you see it when the dog/cat hacks up something, that heave-heave-heave thing they do? It was like that. After a few minutes I was so freaked out I ran outside and forced myself to throw up. It stopped. It felt like my stomach was sufficating. What do you suppose happened? This is the first time I tried turkey.
  20. Thanks wasabubblebutt. I got a great big visual on that one. I will be passing on sodas.
  21. Super and Lisah great answers. Tami I was not ready for a gastric bypass. Cutting my organs was more than I was prepared to do. I was content to be fat. Then the next two years brought a diagnosis of diabetes and sleep apnea. Regulating the diabetes medication was hell. After two years I was ready mentally for something. Then the Lap Band started being advertised. I researched it to the nth degree. I so the low risks, the quick recovery period and best of all, quick weight loss with lasting results. I encourage you to stay true to your heart. Your family does not live in your body. They do not pay your bills nor do they work your job. (Dynomini on here is a great strong woman who has posted some motivating thoughts) You do whatever you feel is right for you. As for me, the band was the right thing. I'm losing weight about 7 pounds a week. I'm 15 days post op. I am so happy and HOPEFUL. I have HOPE for the first time in a very long time. I want to run again.
  22. Thank you for this angelnurse. It explains what Dr. Kirshenbaum meant when he told my husband " I got every last stitch" despite my very flat and wide liver.
  23. Wow. I'm reading all of your posts with fascination and fear. What did it feel like to have it flipped? Could you tell? Or did you suddenly find out it was flipped when you went in for a fill? Folks I have a dimpled scar in the side of my rib cage. It's like a scar with a kernel of corn under it. It's very sensative. One of the lap scars. Is this where the port is? I put First Aid adhesive pads on two of my scars.
  24. Someone did the same for me (actually several did). That's why I love this site. Good luck musicalmomma.
  25. I can't speak for a Mormon person not being one. I can tell you the foundation for their church is not what I would call my cup of tea. I know the person they believe to be a prophet was Joseph Smith and he was the foundation for the religion. He was something like 14 years old at the time. He "found" gold tablets in the woods. I can't get mad at people who believe in a religion. I can get upset at someone for altering historical documents to suit their need. I do know the Mormons have a HUGE archive of geneology and they require when you convert that you begin your family geneology at some point. Documenting history is wonderful but I wonder WHO is allowing someone to alter their heir's religion???? Just because THEY change it doesn't make it so.
