Wedding bells and pellet guns: I'm ready to shoot my daughter the bride-to-be
Anyone else gone through the wedding from hell planning? My daughter is engaged to marry her soldier sweetheart. The date was first Oct. 26th, then they switched it because his training wasn't going to be done yet. It got moved to Feb. 16th. Then today she came to me and annouced THEY didn't want to wait and wanted to marry October 26th. Meanwhile they want: Full on reception with party and booze. Big poofy dress wedding in a church*. *Going back and forth on which church to marry in* *Have not secured a reception hall or church* *Changed from reception hall to the Florida Aquarium* I have lost all the steam for a beautiful bridal tea, personal shower hosted by her aunt and bridesmaid and the wedding isn't even close. Venting but dang I am soooo fumed, exhausted and more than anything hurt that I can't seem to feel a joyful part of the process. I told her to just elope but her fiancee said no. ( I love him )

I am not a sweets eater.
Lauraj I still struggle with that fast eating thing. I use to eat like my cat after a long day of bird chasing. But now I time myself and I'm still at 15 minutes which beats 5 minutes to ten minutes. What to do????? I end up hungry again. As far as sweets.. remember the funky thing we were talking about the other day about food touching and eating one thing at a time, no funny textures? Okay the fact that it was OLD candy and not freshly purchased would have stopped me. I have a problem with cake. We had a bakery fresh strawberry cake yesterday for Mother's Day. I had a piece, ate less than half. Waited an hour, ate the rest. Got up three hours later and ate another piece. This morning I feel like I was hit by a train. Got the shakes, I think it is a sugar buzz. I'm full of regret and beating myself up.

Atleast you're honest and while we're being honest, After I get my plastic surgery, I'm going to find the tightest leather pants I can get my boney azz into. My weight is all in my gut and I have no doubt my bottom will go back to being the English muffins they use to be. Vanity can be a motivator.- Question about gas/swelling
That would be my current look. Been sporting the elastics for several years. Will be sooooo glad when I can wear BLUE JEANS.- I'm slightly odd feeling in my chest.
You must be a teacher. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> As far as the discomfort goes, Dr. Kirshenbaum said to expect this in places like my shoulder, my side. I did feel it in my shoulder. I did feel that same strange sensation in my "gullet". The same feeling you get when you've gotten very nauseated and there is nothing left but aches. I use to get a form of that same feeling with heartburn. Calling the doctor is something that is practical. Doing other things like increasing your Water, drink and eat slowly. RELAX! That helps your overall persona. ( I would give it a week, try switching foods, going on liquids, resting more and see how you feel ) Hope this helps. Good luck.- Question about gas/swelling
Hey Laurend. I wouldn't call it pregnant puff but I would call it muffin top. I swelled like someone with a beer gut. You know, high on the stomach? After a couple of weeks it started to go down and it would go down when I rested.- Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
This freaked me out. :hungry: All those who cannot stand food touching say "Aye". Aye here. I eat rotating my plate counter clockwise. The most content feeling is when it is just one item I am working on. Mix it up? Gads no! I'm out of the closet now. And here I thought I was the only one with the mixing foods/funny textures/strange discolorations-means-it-goes/and I'm still obese! You all make me feel so very much a part of a very odd family. And for those who don't know Incubus, shame on you. They've been around since early 90's.. You've heard their songs if you listen to general radio.. Amazing! (but I think you used the airbrush tool for that lovely violet hair)- OMG! Scared doctor will reprimand me?
Esther I'll bet your wrongs and getting scolded as a child are rearing their ugly heads right now. Seldom have I seen a doctor scold me as a patient. I totally agree with lisah. You aren't the first and won't be the last. You will feel AWESOME when you are sitting in your car after that visit with a new plan, the visit behind you and knowing you have a fresh start to thin.- Public Smoking Bans
I'm trying to take your side seriously and respect the fact that you smoke. I use to smoke so I understand that hankering for a beer and a stogey. The core problem with allowing someone to smoke in an establishment is there is no choice for anyone who doesn't smoke. They can choose to stay away from the smokers but it still filtrates throughtout the room. You can't even sit in another section of a restaurant even on the other side of the building without smoke permeating the room. The ventilation ducts typically act as conductors for smoke. Fair to me is go outside and lightup. Plenty of people do this. No clear evidence. Okay here is a story. My Aunt had heart surgery. My uncle George smoked unfiltered camels. They were married for 40 years. She never smoked a cigarette in her life. When she died from complications, the doctor said she had the lungs of a pack a day smoker they were so black. A reasonable conclusion would be that unfiltered camels were inhaled by my aunt causing disease to develop in her lungs. ................................................................................. Laurend I have told people with B.O. they have a "funk thing going on". I didn't really expect a response. As for the girl who stunk like smoke, if it is a trigger for your asthma, I hope you sat as far away from her as you could. Otherwise, I really wouldn't say anything to a person who smells like smoke. They probably already know this because they just got done having a cigarette.- Postop recovery and swimming
Adding this to cut from home. I'm a Star Wars geek. STAR WARS™: THE LEGACY REVEALED On The History Channel® World Premiere Monday, May 28, at 9pm ET/PT Thirty years ago, an unheralded film known as Star Wars opened in theaters and took audiences on a groundbreaking journey to a galaxy far, far away. It instantly seized the public’s imagination, and three decades later still claims that grasp. Now, a new special from The History Channel seeks to understand why the emotional impact of the Star Wars Saga remains as relevant as ever. The two-hour special, STAR WARS: THE LEGACY REVEALED, is a World Premiere on The History Channel on Monday, May 28 at 9pm ET/PT. Through interviews with politicians, academics, journalists and critics – all of whom weigh in on the enduring appeal of George Lucas’s creations – the special demonstrates that Star Wars isn’t just a high-action adventure in space. It’s a remarkably complex and sophisticated story about power, politics, sin, spirituality and redemption—almost Shakespearean in its power, humor, presentation and influence. The special makes the argument that Star Wars’ intensely compelling stories—borrowed from diverse traditions, from Greek mythology and American westerns to the Bible and even Vaudeville—compel us to explore some of the biggest questions of our time. STAR WARS: THE LEGACY REVEALED explores that view through interviews with politicians, academics, journalists and critics, who all weigh in on the creations of George Lucas. The special shows how seldom a movie can make us laugh and think about our role in the universe—which may be why it has stood the test of time. “The enduring appeal of Star Wars,” says Tom Brokaw, “is that it’s this vastly entertaining piece of cinema that also leaves you … with the idea that there are some real issues out there that we ought to be thinking about—good and evil, and right and wrong, and heroism. Generations of people a long time from now will be enthralled by it, just as we are enthralled by the story of Robin Hood or King Arthur’s Court or any of the Shakespearean tales.” The special unites a diverse group of high-profile Star Wars fans, from filmmakers to politicians to journalists. Their comments punctuate the still jaw-dropping footage from all six episodes of the Star Wars Saga. “The idea of the underdog who’s on the right side defeating the overdog who’s on the wrong side is a deeply American mythology,” says former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who climbed a high political fence to agree with current Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on the movies’ impact. Says Pelosi: “The legacy of George Lucas fits very comfortably among the classics of all time, whether ancient or modern. “ Adds Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson: “You don’t even have to ask, ‘Will it stand the test of time?’ It has and it will.” This action-adventure film with lighthearted moments and touching purity, demands that we focus on current fundamental themes, including environmentalism, racism and the temptations of power and greed. As author Carl Silvio notes, at times the movies seem prophetic: “In Revenge of the Sith, when we hear Anakin say, ‘You’re either with me or against me,’ it’s almost impossible not to hear that quote and think of another very famous quote,” a point the special underscores with a clip of President George W. Bush’s November 2001 news-conference quote: “You are either with us or you are against us in the fight against terror.” The dichotomies of good vs. evil and mechanism vs. humanity is apparent throughout the movies, which carry themes of politics and power. In the Star Wars universe, dictators are ruthless yet charismatic, and while some politicians are well-meaning, as Princess Leia Organa demonstrates, leaders are born from courage and conviction, not from gender. With regard to other kinds of power, C-3PO and R2-D2 demonstrate that machines can be beneficial, while the feared Death Star shows us their danger. The Ewoks, instrumental in the eventual defeat of the Empire, remind us that natural, environmental solutions have as much as (or more) power than man-made ones. That the movies are fun only gives their central questions and observations more credence How long will that endure? “A hundred years from now,” says Joan Breton Connelly, an associate professor of fine arts at New York University, “someone will be sitting here discussing the impact of Star Wars and they will be seeing different things in it than we are seeing today, just as today we have classes in the university on Homer.” Filmmaker Kevin Smith: “It is bad guys versus good guys and everyone wants to see that story. That story will never grow tired, never grow old.” STAR WARS: THE LEGACY REVEALED is produced by Prometheus Entertainment in association with Lucasfilm Ltd. Executive Producer is Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Kevin Burns (Empire of Dreams, Look, Up in the Sky!). Executive Producer for The History Channel is Beth Dietrich Segarra. Hi BrendaKay. I'm west of you by about an hour and a half. Live in West Pasco County. Patty- Orlando/Central Florida
Hello all: I live near Tampa but went to Colorado to Dr. Kirshenbaum. I am a self pay and his price was great. We were banded only a few weeks apart. I just started eating what I consider solid foods this past week. (chicken, shrimp) Are you getting enough Protein? My doctor recommended 60 grams of protein a day. He did not advocate a brand but suggested Protein shakes to supplement my diet to make sure I was getting enough protein. Keep searching this forum, use the jump thread option at the bottom of the page on the home page for Lap Band Talk.
