I'm worried I'm eating too much!!
I have to agree and say that eating that much of anything right now especially mashed potatoes is NOT good idea! haha. I was told by my lap band nutritionist to only consume freely with my fluids...when I was on an all liquid diet for 3 weeks after surgery. When I got to my mushy phase I was told to measure my portions and have only had 1 cup of food since then. I'm not a pro, but MY pro told me these things ha! Food for thought! I hope this helps! I would consider measuring and eating only the 1 cup of food...Good luck!

Dr Refuses to Fill two in row -- yelled at me and said not to tell him how to practice medicine when i asked how much he was filling
I'm so sorry to hear that you've had such a rough experience. I would not have tolerated that either. I wish you the best in your future fills and with your future fill Doctor. =/

Sex after lap band???
ALRIGHT!!! I'm back and I had my surgery the 25th. I have had sex recently and I must tell you that after losing 33 lbs in all so far I actually feel more attractive and am more interested/excited now when it comes to sex. I feel sexier to myself and to him. =)

Numbing medication with fills
I go for my first fill on tuesday but I was told they will be numbing the area with a needle around the port site. I may opt for no numbing considering either way I'll feel one needle stick....

How much do your fills cost?
My first 2 fills are included in my surgery cost, but I will be self pay after my first two fills, and that will cost 150$

Having my first band fill on Tuesday
Hello =) I just scheduled my first band fill. I'm really nervous but I'm sure everything will go fine, I just don't do so well with needles. I was told that in my surgeons office they numb you with a needle first. I found that kind of ironic considering they're numbing you with a needle....to put a needle in you haha. Anyhow, The woman I spoke with on the phone made me feel a little under educated! She asked me if I was feeling hungry between meals and I told her yes but my main problem was that I wasn't full after my 1/2 cup and that I felt like I could eat too much. She told me I was over eating. I guess I hadn't realized before-hand that although I still feel hungry after my 1/2 cup, I need to still measure and keep from eating more. I thought I just needed a fill and that there was nothing I could do about the hunger I was feeling until I got one. I'm having a hard time not eating more since because I haven't had a fill and I have no restriction my food is falling straight through my band and into my bigger stomach. I eat healthy meals and exercise 4-5 times a week for 30 min or more but the scale is not moving. At all. Sorry for my rambling there for a moment. =) I'm curious as to whether anyone has opted to have the fill done without numbing before hand? I almost feel I would do better knowing there would only be one needle in my stomach for any given time. Another question....this doesn't fully pertain to band fills, but has anyone gotten food poisoning or a tummy bug with the band? My son has been throwing up today and although I'm washing our hands and cleaning well, I know these things are easy to pass along. I'm nervous about vomitting with the band. Thanks for taking the time to read all of this nonsense and Thank you for any helpful responses. =)

Fist fill questions
I just called to schedule my first fill for 1 on tuesday, and I was told not to eat or drink 2 hours before. =)

port swelling
The area....it' not red or inflamed or infected looking. Just bulging out a little. It looks a little bit like there's an egg sticking out from under my skin, but smaller of course...by a little bit. I could try to move the appointment up. I'll have to self-pay for the visit though, so I'm not sure if I'll have money in time. =( I will definitely call my surgeons office and see if I can send a picture or something.

What changes have happened in your life post-op?
I am 20 and just got my band last month. I have lost 16 lbs that I know of. (decided to only weigh-in once a week...got a little obsessive.) I weigh myself tomorrow and I hope that I've lost more. =) Sure I have. I've been following the diet like a mad-woman. =) I, too, have felt my self-confidence rise. I almost feel like I look thinner already although I really don't see any change.

port swelling
I have had swelling in my port area since the day after my surgery. It doesn't ever seem to go down unless I put some ice on it for a period of time. I'm still tender in that spot as well. Has anybody else experienced this? I've talked to a few people now that have told me that either their port was never swollen, or that their swelling was gone after a week. I'm 11 days out. I have an appointment with my surgeon on the 18th. Untill then I'm not sure what to do. Is the swelling normal that you know of? Thank you in advance for giving me some advice. Much appreciated!

What is going on with this website?
The only thing I've noticed is that I couldn't leave a comment on anyone's status' or profiles...I don't know if it's that way again today, but I DO know the site was down for maintenance yesterday. =/

Can you wear underwear during surgery?
There is actually a thread in the general lap band discussion forum that's at the very top where you can post your surgery day stories. It might benefit you to read those. It really helped me prepare for my procedure. No I wasn't allowed to wear underwear. I was only allowed to wear a gown and a surgical cap. I urge you to read other bandsters stories, Debbie. =)

Could this really happen????
The ideal time to weigh yourself is in the morning right after you urinate. If you weighed yourself any time after this then there are a lot of things that could play into what your weight was at the time. (the foods and liquids you've consumed) I wouldn't take it so hard and wait a while before you weigh yourself again and try weighing yourself in the morning.

Successfully eating around the band
Trying to start over with the band and attending some kind of support group I think would really benefit you!

When did you start excerising?
I was banded tuesday as well. My doctor told me to wait until 2 weeks post op to begin exervising again. Every surgeon is different though and likes to follow different rules so I cant tell ya what to do haha. I say calling the Doctor in the morning is probably your best bet. =) I plan to begin exercising again just as soon as my 2 weeks is up and I am not so sore anymore. I still have some discomfort and swelling in my port area.

Day 1 of Mushies
Ya know, I don't know. I STILL have not had a BM and i'm 8 days out. I was told I couldn't take any kind of laxative, just benefiber with some water to help things along. So it seems I'm having the opposite symptoms. If you have LOTS of diarrhea I would suggest calling your dr or surgeon.

Sleeping with the band
I'm 8 days out and I still cant sleep on my tummy. =( I am a tummy sleeper and I'm not used to sleeping on my back at all. I can only sleep on my back or on my right side. sleeping on my left irritates my port and is still uncomfortable. I hope it's normal that my port site is still swollen. =S

Too tight?
I'm glad that you were able to go back into your doctors office. I'm so happy that I found this site because of posts like this. I just got my band 8 days ago and although I haven't experienced things like this yet, I'm glad that I know now what I might do in this situation. So thank YOU. =)

I'm going with the Sleeve!!
Unfortunetly I'm' not sure whether to be happy for you or be angry at you. HA I don't know whether your post was for support or to stir things up and give off negative vibes. It"s horribly irritating to get onto my favortie web site because of ALL of the helpful people and information that I've gotten here, and find someone who says something like this. If all in all you were looking for support in your decision I don't think that you needed to post your quoted comment above. Although, I AM happy for you for taking a step towards weight loss. I just wish that you wouldn't have posted a comment that might confuse or attempt to re-direct someone's decision to have the band. Simply stating that you were going with the sleeve and that you are excited for your life transformation would have sufficed.

bacitracin?

I'm a loser...and not in a good way
If what you're doing isn't working you need to try something different. My best friend eats horribly and doesn't exercise either. She actually had her band removed once and put back in months later because she wasn't doing it right the first time. She's still practicing her unhealthy ways, but in the midst of all this she lost 80 lbs. I don't get it either, but you need to focus on you and not your friend. You admitted that you weren't eating right and maybe that's all you need to change. =) Smoking will only hurt you and your weight loss. I'm sincerely sorry about things with your boyfriend but know that there are other men out there. You WILL find someone who's willing to commit even if it's not today, tomorrow, or next month. Don't lose hope, You just need to kick into gear. =) by the way, I didn't mean anything that I said harshly or rudely. I feel for you as I've been in VERY similar situations. Just trying to help. I wish you the best of luck.

ANYONE HAVE LOOSE SKIN PROBLEM AFTER LAP BAND SURGERY ...
I asked my surgeon this question recently and he said that loose skin should not be a problem for me. (I'm 20) He said that my age plays a big factor in it, and exercise. I am exercising every day and I hope that that will keep the loose skin at bay haha.

Sex after lap band???
I'm glad this was posted. I'm 1 week post-op today and I've been dying for some attention I wouldn't mind trying but I"m still in pain and have some swelling and discomfort in my port area. I was worries as some of the others were that my fiance wouldn't find me attractive after becoming thinner, but he says it's not an issue as long as you cant see all of my bones. =) I'm happy to think that he might actually find me a little MORE attractive! =) Since before and after surgery I have lost 21 lbs and nobody has noticed yet! but I'll get there!
